January Chit Chat - Page 9

I would be down with a FB group except I'm weirded out by the new privacy settings.  I already feel like I can't post to people's walls or comment on things because then everyone can see it in that stalker feed.  Anyone else feel that way?

I think that may be a bit more convenient than jumping over from facebook all the time. lol

I dunno... I would join one if someone made it, but I really like the ability to start threads with topics and I feel safer on MDC than on FB for some reason.

Okay, ladies... I'm thinking of entering an amateur photo contest, but I'm not sure which photo to enter.  Which one do you like the best?

My MIL loves the flag picture, but I'm just not convinced.  Dh loves the frog.  What do you all think?

I like the frog one and the flag one.

Jaimee - I think the frog and the roses are best!

Regarding a Facebook group... I don't have a Facebook page, so I hope people keep chatting on here! I really like the MDC forum. Against all of my friends' wishes, I have firmly resisted joining Facebook because I feel like it'll just create drama in my life. I had some bad MySpace experiences back in the day. I try to avoid that stuff at all costs now! Plus, MySpace kind of consumed my life for a long time. Facebook would probably be a million times even more addictive, LOL. From what I hear from friends, that seems to be the case!

Jaimee, I like the frog and the roses! Great composition. Are those both SOOC?

Thanks Christina.  Yep, other than cropping, those are SOOC.  Seems like the Frog is the popular choice.

Do you have photoshop? Pioneer Woman has so really fun free actions for ps and you could add some pizzaz! Or is the competition for SOOC shots?

I think the frog is the best.  The flag picture is interesting, but I think the composition is slightly off.  I appreciate how hard it is to photograph bubbles though!

Christina, yep, I've got photoshop, but no editing (besides cropping) is allowed.

Abra, I agree... it's because I had to crop out some people that were to the right of the flag (blowing bubbles).  The flag itself was on top of a fire engine going by in a parade or else I could've taken more time to compose it.

I see! Well, good luck! I just can't choose between the frog or the roses... The roses have great color, but the frog just has such great composition!

I like the roses better b/c I worked hard at composing it, unlike the frog, which pretty much composed itself.  But it's not about effort, it's about the final product and it sounds like the frog looks more impressive to most.   Thanks for all the input ladies!

Frog!  I love the flag one, but I'd like more bubbles :-)

The frog is by far the best composition wise and is the most interesting. Frog for sure! And they are lovely!

Thanks Kali...  I will go with the frog, but I realized that I have to crop to 11x14, which cuts off a good chunk of the picture!  Ugh!!  Is it still good?  I've never entered a photo contest like this before (only online ones) so I'm not familiar with the process of required sizing, foam board, etc.

it's still great, IMO :-)

Looks great to me!!

okay so all week Dylan has been a very noisy, restless sleeper.  He kicks a lot (he's swaddled) and grunts like crazy.  All.  Night.  Long.

I have tried leaving him swaddled (he sleeps in the middle of the bed when swaddled).  I've tried holding him- both swaddled and unswaddled.  I've tried letting him sleep on his belly next to me.  I've tried every imaginable hold, position, sleep environment.  Nursed.  Changed diaper.  Everything.  He doesn't stop moving/grunting.

He's sleeping though he seems restless.  But nobody else is sleeping.

Is he just noisy?  Gassy?  What can I do?  I'm soooo tired.  Help!

This is the same problem I had for the first month with Avery.  It seems to be getting better now.  Knock on wood. We're going with unswaddled, on tummy sleeping and that seems to help.  With Austin (who did this as well), it was b/c he had to pee, but refused to pee in his diaper until he had squirmed and grunted for several hours.  That's when we started ECing him.  But maybe it's just a phase?  Though, at 2 months, that's when food allergies tend to manifest...  Hopefully it will pass quickly!
