Frequent Vomiting. Need advice please!

Hello,  my dd is 8 years old and just recently (4 weeks ago) starting vomiting on a semi-regular basis.  It usually occurs in the morning and she throws up once or twice and then is fine the rest of the day.

It has happened 3 times in the last 4 weeks...  Other than throwing up, she seems perfectly healthy.  No fever or anything.  And once she is done throwing up, she goes back to being her happy, playful self.

It doesn't seem to have anything to do with what she has had the night before and her diet has changed at all.  There isn't anything stressful going on in her life either.

I just don't know if I need to be concerned at this point or not..

Has anyone else experienced this?  Any insight and advice would be helpful!

Thanks!

Sinus infection or post nasal drip at night?  When my daughter has allergy problems or a sinus infection brewing, she will sometimes wake up and throw up in the middle of the night or first thing in the morning.  We've finally seen an ENT and scheduled to have her adenoids out - this kid keeps sinus infections for months.

Have you noticed any sniffles or snoring at night?  Does she complain that her throat hurts or does it look red?

We've had this problem with both of my kids in the last several years with some important differences.

My daughter has pediatric migraines. She vomited constantly for a couple of hours until she fell asleep and then woke up fine. This happened every couple of weeks.

My son has severe gastric reflux. My son would wake up vomiting or start vomiting after a meal. He'd vomit once or twice but otherwise seemed fine. He had mild reflux as an infant. What seemed to happen with him was that he got a nasty stomach virus that inflamed things and aggravated the existing reflux, which kept him ill. A really strong antacid solved things.

We ended up seeing a pediatric gastroenterologist with each of them and them moved on to a neurologist for my daughter from there.

My daughter actually had both her tonsils and her adenoids out a couple of years ago.  She used to snore really badly but hasn't since she's has them taken out.  Her throat seems to be fine too.

I was actually beginning to wonder if it was some sort of acid reflux since it doesn't happen all that often and once she throws up once or twice, she's fine.  She hasn't complained of any headaches or anything like that.  If it happens again, I will take her to her doctor to see if we can figure out what the problem might be.  She didn't have any acid reflux as an infant but I suppose that doesn't mean she couldn't develop it now...  It's something both my stepdaughter, who is 15, and my husband have suffered from in the past as well.  JollyGG what type of antacid did you use?

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with me!  I am new to this site and it's wonderful to be able to reach out to other moms with the same or similar issues!  smile.gif
