Checking in, glad this site is back up and glad to reconnect with all of you.  I will be having surgery next week for the baby, if anyone wants details feel free to PM me.  I also have a cyst but I am not sure if that is going to be a problem or not, it might be taken care of at the same time.  My spotting has stopped thankfully.  

C's mom, that sounds like a great NYE.  

VeritasVitae, that is awesome how you presented the news to your twin sister.  I love the idea. 

Ainh, will be waiting for news from your upcoming appointment.  

MonkeyScience, great news that you have seen the places and gotten a good feel for them.  Let us know what you decide.  Would you ever consider home birth?  If so, the first sounds pretty close to that.  The 2nd sounds like almost a hospital but not quite.  I would try to get some information from your local LLL if possible and check online to see what other people say about the two places if you still haven't made your decision.  

Demeter, also hoping this year is a good one.

Eleuthia, yes, you are very fortunate to have a lot of supportive family around. Dh and I are quite far from our families and I know it is going to make things so hard with an infant.

Rebecca10, right there with you! I have my appointment today, so I'm really looking forward to seeing with my own eyes.

You definitely have a great deal done with your preparations on choosing a birthing center, MonkeyScience, So far, I'm sticking with my current ob/gyn and the hospital she is affiliated with, which has a woman-centered birthing and health center that some people I know have used with good results. 

What an amazing experience, Veritas, to have a twin and be pregnant at the same time!

I have my u/s this morning and since I've been feeling so well lately (in contrast to last week), I am of course making myself worry. And I had a mini fight with dh his morning, probably more because of nerves than for the stupid reason I got mad. I really hope that this day gets better!!  Good wishes to my u/s buddy today, LilyTiger!

I'm sicker than I've been in years... and I'm so not happy about it. My ILs could have informed us, they had warning... my niece was sick for a couple days before we came over. I can't properly rest, either. Because I have nowhere 100% safe I can stick the little one, even our room is tore up from trying to find spots for everything from our move. I hope this passes reasonably fast, I'm not a good sick person lol. At least both girls let me sleep in this morning, they were getting me up before 7 the past couple mornings. Eek.

Demeter- the truth is that really sucks. I really can't believe your in laws did that. I have some that did that one year too. Part way through the Xmas gathering they had to dose up their kid with tylenol which made me realize he had a fever and was sick and they didn't mention it at all. And they had no shame when it came time to give him more meds. They didn't bat an eye or say anything about anything. I was thinking, wtf? I think it's terribly rude and inconsiderate. I think some ppl think that b/c it's Xmas that everyone will just accept their sick kid. I however, don't accept that and I would never have taken my kid in the first place, no matter what the holiday. Boo on your in laws and boo on you being so sick now!!

Thanks!  I appreciate the healing vibes. I have to fly to get there and will be staying at the hospital but am bringing a computer so I can check in and so Dh won't be so bored hopefully.

Thanks!  I now have a good overall feeling about all of it as everything worked out relatively smooth in regards to it so far which I am not used to in general.

The thing that really got me was how my SIL was all... I just don't think we'll be going anywhere tomorrow (Christmas day), she's so sick and all. Yeah? Really? You think?? Could you have told me that so I didn't EXPOSE all of my kids especially my LITTLE ONE to whatever nastiness is going around?! I'm all for naturally building the immune system and all but if I have the choice for stuff like this, I'd rather play it safe. Marah was sick last month for WEEKS... she was teething, had a runny nose, a virus that turned into Roseola and we were BOTH miserable. She was inconsolable for almost a week.... I really didn't feel like dealing with more sickies so soon after. At least Marah doesn't seem as phased, I don't know why I'm like doubly sick... I haven't had a cough like this since I was a little girl.

On the plus side.... at least I'm not dealing with m/s on top of this. This pregnancy has been very mild in that regard with really only a couple weeks of bad nausea. Makes me wonder if I'm not a little further along than I think I am... I seemed to have a peak in the 8th week and then nothing really or very mild at best. It's either that or all my weird feelings about this pregnancy might indicate a miscarriage. Either outcome, I think I'm okay with... I guess we'll see how things progress from here.

I don't get when people drag their sick kids places or let other people come and be exposed to them.  Elsa had just gotten over a little cold before Christmas and I made sure to tell everyone so they could decide on their own whether or not to come.

I had a supremely crappy weekend.  I had flu like symptoms most of the weekend, which by Sunday turned into an upper respiratory infection that I'm still dealing with.  I ended up getting some abx from the doctor.  I'm taking them with my probiotics so hopefully I don't get any yeast issues.  I need to get better soon because I make a terrible mother when sick.  I just let Elsa tear up the house and make sure she doesn't hurt herself, and she watches too much tv and I don't make her good meals.  It makes me feel bad.  J claims he's going to clean up the kitchen today for me.  We'll see.

I have an appointment on the 23rd.

I hope you feel better soon, ninetales.... make sure you aren't taking the probx at the same exact time as the abx, the abx will totally cancel out any benefit the probx may have. usually taking them a couple hours apart is good.

Ninetales- I hope the abx heals you quickly. Also, I agree with Demeter about the probiotics. In fact, I actually believe it's best to just wait and take them after your done completely with the round of abx. The research I've done seems to indicate that probiotics are extremely sensitive and most don't even make it down the digestive tract to work. So it's to give the best chance of them taking affect, it's a good idea to take them the following week after the abx.  JMO.

And I had never heard that about the probiotics.  We (including the dogs) have always taken them with the abx schedule.  I am glad I know now though!

Demeter, you are totally right. I was a little upset on the plane last week sitting in front of 2 clearly sick, phlegmy, coughing kids (the little girl had bloody mucus in her nose and was chewing on dh's seat). I understand they had to fly, and they were attentive parents in other respects, but I think sometimes people do not think outside of their space and how their actions affect others.

Sol, I'm so glad you have a good feeling about things. Keep us posted.

AFM, copying most of this from my post on the bajingo grad's thread, since there are not so many different ways to say it: Everything went well today! Whew!! and Woohoo!!! I am measuring one day ahead of when we estimated based on ov and lmp, so pretty much on track (edd now 8/13/12)! We were married on the 13th, so it's a great number for us! Any day will do, though.

We had the vaginal sonogram and saw the baby, saw the heart flickering, and we are so thrilled. I didn't cry as much as I thought I would, but I think that's because I was waiting so long--over 40 minutes--for the doc! I also started crying while driving there and saw dh driving to the appointment, so I've had enough tears for now. I have another appt at 10w and that's when I do all the blood draws.

Oh, since I'm thinking of it, does anyone have any good body wash/soap suggestions? My skin is super sensitive right now, so I think I'm going to have to do fragrance free baby gentle, which is probably not a bad idea. I'm considering the Burt's bees baby wash and the Earth Mama angel baby. Other suggestions?

ABX kill bacteria... it disrupts the already there/maintained flora in the gut, to take probiotics at the same time totally cancels out any benefit from the probiotic. I have seen 2 schools of thought on it... one is to take it hours later and the other, like Jamie suggested, is to take it the week following. :)

Andaluza, how excited that you saw the heartbeat! You know I already said I didn't cry when I heard the heartbeat because I wasn't ready, it's hard to really process exactly what you are seeing in the moment.

My next ultrasound is the NT scan at 12 weeks. I'm really hoping that we get some time to see the baby and watch it wiggle around. My husband is going with me since we didn't get to see anything last time. I also hope that I have a tech who wants to give me a little hint about the sex. I have seen a lot of people say that their tech ventured a guess at the sex at 12 weeks.

Talked to my insurance today and found out no copays for routine pregnancy visits, and a $250 copay at the hospital. Given how scared we were that we'd end up doing IVF, it's going to be a pretty cheap baby. :)

I guess I will go do a hospital tour at some point. My doc delivers at two local hospitals so I will have a bit of a choice, if I decide to stay with this doc. I had my first appointment at that office Tues, but only met the NP. So at 12 weeks I'll get to meet the doc and I'll know better whether this is a good fit.

Hey guys!  Had our ultrasound today too!  We got to see the heartbeat (170 beats per minute!) and we even got to see the little monkey kicking and flailing his/her little arms and legs.  We had to do a vaginal U/S because my uterus is tilted way back and of course the little dude was all the way at the back of the uterus, but it ended up being awesome because we got much clearer pictures than we would have otherwise.  My husband was totally amazed (he was just expecting a blob, not a moving baby with arms and legs).  We're measuring at 9 weeks 3 days, so I was told any time the first week of August.  YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYYAYAYAYAYAYYAYAYAY!!!!

I also had my first visit with my OB, which was a little less exciting.  It turns out she's moving in June, so I'll have to start rotating through the practice's other docs to find one I like.  She was also pretty quick in and out (just a general pelvic exam), so I guess I'll have to ask all my questions at my next appointment.  I signed up for Bradley birthing classes starting in April, so a lot of questions will get answered then too.  Overall, an amazing day!

Demeter - So sorry you are sick! That completely sucks, and I agree that it was really rude and irresponsible that you weren't told about your niece being sick! Especially since you have so many kids to be exposed to it. Yuck.

andaluza - I felt the same way going to my appointment today - sure that it was going to be bad news. But I got good news, too! for healthy babies.

AFM, they found a heartbeat with the doppler today! 160 bpm, just like a little choo choo train! I was sad dh wasn't there to hear it, but he had work and would have been completely bored 95% of the time. I can't believe they found it this early (8 weeks 2 days) - I'd heard it has to be at least 10 to hear a heartbeat. Anyway, very, very reassuring. We also had a quick ultrasound as per dh's wish to rule out twins. Just one in there! It was a crappy portable machine, so no measurements, but the mw said everything looked good. She pointed out the baby, which I maybe saw (or maybe just convinced myself I saw - it was really grainy), and she said she saw it moving. So we are officially going to start telling more people, since this significantly drops our miscarriage risk. Only really unpleasant part of the visit was the two attempts at blood draws in my wrists, and that wasn't too bad. But they both decided to bleed like crazy after they pulled the needles out. Ah, well. I met the main midwife today, and I really, really like her. So far I've really liked everyone I've met there, and I feel very good with the choice to go there, even though it is further away. Hope everyone is doing well! This is the second day this week where (so far) I haven't thrown up. Hoping this is a permanent change for the better!

It sounds like things are getting exciting for a lot of you!  I will hopefully hear a heartbeat at my next appt.  I didn't have them use a Doppler on me last time but since I'm going through a doctor this time I figure it's not a battle worth fighting so I'll just enjoy it.

I knew not to take probiotics and abx at the same time but I haven't heard about doing it after the abx course.  I may do that, since I definitely don't want to waste them.

Yay! I can actually almost breathe this morning! Still a bit congested but doing MUCH better than I was yesterday morning, thank goodness. I hate being sick.

I'm hoping my friend sends me my doppler back VERY soon because I'm pretty sure I can find a heartbeat (lol i almost typed that heart beart) by now.

Glad things are getting better, Demeter! My mw found a heartbeat for me yesterday, and I was very surprised - I'm just past 8 weeks, and I thought it would be at least 10 till I could hear anything, but she found it! Hope you get your doppler back soon, too!
