Quickening

Since I felt bubbling last night that reminded me of quickening (when you can feel the baby move); thought I'd ask when you ladies with previous pregnancies felt movement.

#1 pregnancy- 14 weeks

#2 pregnancy- 11 weeks

#1 around 22 weeks

#2 around 18ish weeks

#3 crazy early around 10 weeks

#4 felt a flutter or two around 14 weeks but nothing consistent until 22 weeks

#5 around 16 weeks

I'm so impressed you remember all of them Demeter!

I know all the textbooks say you can't possibly feel it before 14 weeks on, but I'm not a huge 'go by the textbook' kind of person. winky.gif

I'm not at all surprised you could feel it at 10 weeks. And I totally think it's possible that's what I'm feeling now. It's hard to say for sure since there is just so much growing and stretching and unusual feelings going on right now. It's so much more obvious as the baby is obviously bigger. Lets see at 9 weeks, my babe should be about the size of a grape and an inch long.

Either way quickening is such a bright light in the first part of pregnancy. I look forward to everyone reporting that they are feeling their babe flutter around. love.gif

I told my OB that I felt some flutters... and they were so quick to dismiss me but I KNEW what I was feeling. I didn't feel that with each pregnancy.

I'm 9 weeks today... a couple weeks ago I felt little bubbles but I think it was growth though it was definitely reminiscent of quickening. I'm looking forward to feeling baby move so I can feel more connected to this pregnancy. It really feels so unreal to me still.

With pregnancy #1, it was maybe 16 weeks?  I just remember that at my ultrasound (19w2d) I had a conversation with the tech about how I'd been feeling the baby move a ton, so I know it had been going on for 2-3 weeks at least.

I love it when you can start to feel the baby move!  It's so reassuring.

I felt the bubbles with my son around 11 weeks.

#1 18 weeks

#2 once at 9 weeks then regularly at 12 weeks

#3 I've felt some thing that might be baby, but I've had enough gas bubbles I'm not sure!

#1- 13 weeks

#2- 12 weeks

I know a lot of people dismiss feeling it early, so I don't usually tell people how early I felt them. But it felt like a tap-tap-tap, exactly the same as it felt later on when I felt movement, definitely distinct from gas bubbles. Just got stronger with time. My uterus always tends to weirdly measure several weeks ahead at first, so maybe that pops it up to where it's easier to feel?

I feel certain now that what I'm feeling is quickening. It's usually at least once a day. It's for long enough periods of time that it's obvious and I sit and focus on it for a couple minutes. It's in the appropriate place of where my uterus is and the likely babe is. It's neat. Makes me happy.

I cannot wait to feel quickening! I am pretty sure I was 17-18 week along with Cecilia when I felt it, but I am hoping to feel it earlier this time since I know what it's like now. Unfortunately, pregnancy makes me a reasonably gassy person blush.gif so I will probably be second guessing it for a while before I know for sure that it's real!

I've felt some things recently that I've thought could be... but I keep second guessing myself in general about this pregnancy but I felt something distinctly 3 or 4 times yesterday and while I'm also rather gassy while pregnant, lol, this was definitely different.

Definitely felt baby yesterday afternoon and last night!

How exciting reading these replies.  I can't wait to feel it for the first time ever.

I was wondering last night.  I was lying on my back and I had a braxton hicks contraction and after my uterus relaxed I thought I felt the little jabs of annoyance from baby.  Who knows though.  I think I felt baby in the 12-14 week range with the first two, so this would be early.  With the first I felt it at 13-14, but wasn't sure sure sure until like week 16 when it became more obvious.  It's kind of a weird sensation.  And it depends where the placenta is too, of course.

Demeter -- I really feel you on "second guessing this pregnancy".  I don't know if it's denial or what.   This is pretty bad timing in a lot of ways and I haven't told anyone, so it's not very real.  Plus, I'm not stressing about names, which is totally weird for me.  When I saw the heartbeat I was like "huh?  there's a baby in there."  My morning sickness is less pronounced this time around too.  I hate to admit that I'd feel better if we found out it was a girl.  Everyone, including me, would be more excited I think.  There are three women on my block that have three boys and I know that there were definitely feelings of disappointment from friends and relatives for each of those moms when they found out about the third boy in a row, you know?  I've given away most of the baby clothes, so it would hardly matter...in fact, I'd like to dress a girl "like a boy" ;)

Hope everyone feels those bubbles soon!

ainh  I had 3 boys first, then 2 girls... My first baby girl was awash in a sea of pink, but the time she was 3 weeks old I DESPISED the color pink and wondered WHY everything for little ones has to be so gender oriented. My 2nd daughter had more of a mix of stuff. This one will have a lot of GN stuff because I only kept a little bit, I (no joke) gave away the majority of my baby clothes and maternity clothes a week before I got a BFP. Crazy sauce.

Demeter, sorry to laugh at you, but that's funny!

I haven't felt a thing. But I'm fluffy and I think that's why.

I felt something today that didn't feel like the gas I've been feeling lately. It was like a quick tap. Seems similar to what some of you have said you experienced. Exciting.

I'll be 11 weeks on Monday and have felt something different a couple times now, I was fairly certain it was a quick flutter from babe, definitely different from gas... I was actually dismissing it thinking it would be too early to really feel anything, with my first I didn't know what I was feeling till about 20 weeks (he was a smaller babe and I didn't begin showing till then and barely looked preggo even when I was DUE! With #2 I felt around 14 weeks and #3 I think it was around 12 or so weeks. I do enjoy the feeling though, it just makes it so much more real and is such a joy to share when you can even feel it with your hand. Hubby is just waiting to feel him/her move : )

While lying in bed on my back two nights ago, I thought I felt something. It was so fluttery and...regular. Too regular. It was my own heartbeat, as felt from my lower abdomen. So weird!! lol.gif

I think I have been feeling baby a little bit, I am definitly becoming more aware of the baby's presence.
