Purposeful work for 21 month?

I am learning about incorporating purposeful work into our day. Right now my son, Jake, helps with putting his toys up and setting the table for meals. He also "works" at washing dishes and folding clothes.

Are there any other ideas that you have to add purposeful work into our day?

You might consider picking up one of the Montessori books for toddlers or reading Montessori toddler homeschooling Lots of real work in them. I find the For Small Hands website/catalog to be really inspiring for things to do as well. My older son was a very dreamy two year old who liked a lot of fantasy play (still does) but my 2 year old really likes to "do."

Exhibit a graceful reverance and purpose in your own household work and let your child naturaly follow on his own if he wishes.  Offer a gentle invite to help or learn something new, but let him decide on his own.

The Spiritual Tasks of the Homemaker is a wonderful read!

Jake seems to be a little one who likes to "do" as well. I love to see that in him. He is like my right hand man and of course it gives me great pleasure to have him beside me.

I am going to check out For Small Hands now.
