Aeterna- what pump are you using? I have never been a great pumper, but, I have used several different brands now and one I got ZERO - not even a drop with, another I didn't really letdown but would get a teeny bit, and the one I am using now is the best yet for me (other than the pain argh) but I get pretty good output (for now, I know it will eventually be less). Also, I have started practicing pumping with my hands free pumping bra and it compresses my breasts and almost doubles my output...never would have guessed - I would have bought one a long time ago (for my other babies) if I had known that! The only thing is that once I pump most of the milk out it becomes too big for me and I bought the smallest size, so I can't be hands free the entire time.
I talked to my boss today and set up my hours to work from home the next couple of weeks so I can get paid for a couple days this month (Thank God, because, even so I can't even imagine how long it will take to catch up from al lthe unpaid leave!) I still just want to sell my stupid van (to get out of the payment...though maybe I can convince DH to use our tax return to pay it off) and then quit my FT job and work just enough PT hours at my old job to pay my student loans so I can spend more time with the kiddies; but, my DH didn't like the idea at all. :-/ I don't even like my van anymore anyway - its way to hard to reach all the way to the back to buckle my 4yo into his carseat (and he's way too small for a booster...he's almost light enough to rear face still lol)
My little bro graduated from nursing school and had his pinning ceremony tonight, I'm so proud - he is the second child (I was the first) in our family to graduate school which is no surprise...we've always done everything together - we are super close...he was even invited to the birth and didn't quite make it (his nursing final was that morning!), but, was there within minutes of her arrival :-) I was also proud of me because I nursed in public with a complete stranger on one side of me and no cover (actually my mom moved my shirt aside to look at N's latch/see if she was swallowing and flashed everyone around us LOL I love her)
I got so frustrated earlier because N kept spitting up huge amounts (well about an ounce at a time - but that's at least half a feeding!) every single time I fed her for the past 6 hours or so, she finally fed and kept it down...so glad! I think she swallows a ton of air because of her latch and sometimes I don't immediatly notice the SNS bottle is empty...you can hear her "click" and see a gap in the corner of her mouth where she doesn't make consistant suction. That said she's not been too gassy until the past couple of days and even so is less gassy than her brothers were as newborns.
Aeterna- So happy to hear your little one gained!!! I'm super nervous about our 1 month on Wednesday...I hope we get similar news, though I know it still might be bit of a road ahead, since if she has gained it would really be the first time, so I know I won't feel better until we establish that it is a trend with her..then weaning off the supplimenting (if we get there...I sure hope so!) I felt bad at the cerimony earlier though (I didn't bring the SNS) I nursed her the first time and she swallowed for a couple mins, but, the second time she didn't swallow at all...not once the entire time. My mom said she probably just wanted to comfort nurse, but, I still felt bad.
