2012 and the Mayan calendar

I'm sure you guys have all hashed this out before and are possibly sick of talking about it. I read a web page on it that was pretty interesting though. It sounds like it happens on the Solstice. I highly doubt it would happen and, like the page I read says, I highly doubt humans would be able to come together for peace and unity to avoid it.

I always hear people say the Mayan calendar has predicted other things that have actually happened. I'm wondering what those are. And I guess I just wanted to discuss this in general. People made a big deal of it a couple years ago and then it was written off (especially after that stupid movie came out lol). But is anyone talking about it now?

HI I just wanted to post and keep you company. I am thinking the predictive nature of the mayan calander is related to the writing of people like Calleman http://www.calleman.com/content/13_heavens.htm. He said that the final day of our time was two months ago. To much of it is people trying to make a name for themselves and make money. The underlying thread of this conversation is very spiritual and interesting though. That our existence on earth (and the universe) is cyclic. Most indigenious peoples of the world have always said that time is not linear, and that this age is the age of darkness. As for unity consciousness I would say that something cosmically unprecendented would have to happen. What would it take to make humans realize that the inner path that yogis, prophets, shamans have always directed seekers tword is true. The ego has overrun the mind, and impaired our true potential. Our western fragmented left brain dominated world view is a symptom of this disease.  I don't think all will be revealed on the majic day, but I don't think that anything can stay the same indefinitely. I have open arms to a "changing of the guard". We are mothers, what can we offer the future if not a vision of the better world our chidren will live in.

I really agree with everything tri31 just said. I honestly think that we are at the end of an age, and a new age is unfolding...not that we're approaching the end of the world, but, rather, that we're approaching "the end of the world as we know it" (to quote that REM song).

Hi I am just to curious? Have any of you read about this? In my previous post I did not mean imply I was not actively interested in 2012.  I recently stumbled on the work of Dr Dieter Broers, he is a biophysicist who has been studying electromagnetism and it’s measured effects on biology and consciousness. I am so rocked by this idea. And they are all merely ideas; it is what your consciousness resonates to that is transformative.  When I meditate I feel a tangible energy source I am merging into. Sounds weird, but during the times the sun is actively throwing  flares, there is a energy resonating, like a pressure wave pulses. A little more than a year ago the Chandra x-ray telescopes actually picked up a massive “explosion” originating from the galactic center. Wow tri31! Thank you so much for sharing this work by Dr. Broers! I just finished my first reading of it but want to go back and read it all again when I can.

One thing that really resonates with me is the fact that creativity and intelligence expand when we are in states of chaos -- that this is when lots and lots of new connections are formed. I'm excited about the new mental connections that will be formed during the chaotic periods of 2012 -- not just the connections in our own minds but also the connections between many and diverse people.

It's really exciting to me that Broers is encouraging people to begin meditating now to prepare for these approaching changes. I just felt led to begin meditating some months ago...and became really serious about it in about the middle of October.

Nothing is impossible -- no combination of connections is beyond the realm of possiblity. I've been realizing that I'm intensely and continuously connected to even those people from whom I've felt a need to physically/emotionally/socially distance myself. I'm not exactly feeling any sense of urgency about calling these people up or anything -- I'm just very much feeling alive, inside, to the endless possibilities regarding what may happen...and I'm feeling the joy of learning to open up so that I'll be able to ride and embrace whatever waves are about to come coursing through my life...

I love your observations! Especially the prospect of allowing for new neurological connections! Babies are born with massive potential for neural pathways, which are naturally pruned down as new connections are reinforced. Easy for them, but hard work for us. Through meditation, the quite mind becomes the builder. I think this is key, to allowing the next evolutionary step in consciousness, to unfold. We must allow ourselves to examine the world of knowledge, with the eyes of a child.

My husband turned 50 this year. It is quite a slap in the face to see the clear distinction between him, and some of his friends, that have started to assume an “over the hill” attitude in life. It is that attitude that seals off new learning. Habit and unexamined belief (dogma) are catalysts for mental entropy. It's a chioce we make, and maybe that is the phase of the cycle we are in, as we make our beliefs about the world manifest. I love the lyric "wake up to find out, that you are the eyes of the world". Each of us mired in our own experience and only through embracing ones self, and ceasing to condemn ourselves and others can we begin to heal, and step forward.

This is so true! And it's such a wonderful journey -- one that I was not even ready for until last summer, at age 47! Of course, I now see this state of readiness as very much attributable to the readiness of the Universe and the Universe working in me. And I see it much more as me getting into alignment with this Great Spirit or Universal Soul and flowing with the energy, and not so much as me "changing the world." I do realize, though, that as more and more of us get into alignment, the world is going to be different simply because we are different.

About the contrast between your husband and his friends -- I recently had a much older woman tell me that, when she was my age, she went through a sort of "searching" phase (this seems to be kind of how she sees my practice of meditation) -- but now that she doesn't feel she has so long to live, she just wants to stick with what she already knows. I do understand that there are different phases of life, but I never want to lose my openness!

What is the dark age, in the cycle, ancients have been refering to? I believe that consciousness as we a familiar with it today is weighed heavily tword an unbalanced fixation on fear. This is truely the threat humanity is facing. In defeating it, by becoming aware that we are infected by it, we see the promise of a new cycle. I am way to excited for 8:30 in the morning!

Subbing! I am hoping for amazing world peace, but a big spiritulal guru of many I know has said that he predicts a huge solar flare to wipe all electric out and will lead to panic and crisis. I don't beleive him or atleast don't want to. He predicts this in November this year.

They had him on Gaiam Tv recently, too. Simply put, Earths' position in space and time initiates the end of one world cycle while heralding the beginning of the new cycle. When we look at the changes taking place in our world, it is only the unsustainable ways of living that are collapsing, based on our unsustainable ways of thinking. So, we are not talking sunshine and lollipops. Modern people fervently believe in our mistruths, and discovering yours will really impact you. This cycle ends this winter, but it is no end time! There is so much work to do, especially if our leaders keep trying to piece together the last centuries unusable parts. The end of the world is just a mass delusion people use as an excuse to avoid taking responsibility for the work ahead.

This looks really good! I'm going to go back and listen to his whole talk when I have more time, to get more ideas about how to prepare.

I must say, though, that one time when I was feeling really anxious during my meditation time, I became impressed with the knowledge that I am connected to the Universal Soul, which is connected to -- or is the Source of -- everything I need and everything my family needs. I'm connected to everyone and everything everywhere! We all are.

So, while I think it's good to prepare in the ways that we can, the best preparation is to just get in tune with our connectedness...and this may very well be what he is encouraging us to do in the video. I look forward to listening to it!

About community -- I think this is something I seriously need to visualize, too, and keep meditating on until it becomes a tangible reality in all our lives. I know we are all connected, and I\ve had many experiences of having our needs met through others -- and am seeking to be more aware of the ways in which we can also be there for those around us -- but the in-real-life, day to day community living is something we're taking a long time to grow into.

Hi everyone! It's May already! This weekend marks Wesak, which in terms of the esoteric calendar, is a very (if not THE most) important full moon of the year. It signifies the birth, death, and enlightenment of the Buddha. At this time, if we are attuned to the energies of this day, we can open ourselves to an amazing current of upliftment. I read that at Wesak, the Planetary Hierarchy of Masters and Teachers gather to bless the Earth and its humanity.

The Mayans were pretty focused on the movements of Venus,  two predicted transits begin May 20^th. Here is a cool little blurb I read last week.

That will be followed a rare transit of the Sun and Venus around June 5^th-6^th.

Not everyone is as fixated on the sun as I am, it is indeed true that the poles are shifting ahead of the maximum.
