Hi, My 1 year old caught a cold 3 weeks ago.  It began with a fever that lasted only 1 day.  He has been congested and stuffy with a phlegmy cough for 3 weeks.   A week and a half ago the doctor said his ears were clear and it was all upper respitory possibly sinusitis.  Initially he lost his appetite, but it has returned and he's eating somewhat normally now, although still a little less.  We have been doing steam, nasal aspirations/saline and rest.  A week and a half ago we began using a pill called congestex and a homeopathic sinus relief.  Today we went to the doctor again and he said it's a double ear infection and sinusitis and wants to prescribe Augmentin ES, an antibiotic.  My son does not seem upset.  He doesn't tug on his ears, he doesn't mind lying down and he's nursing fine.  He's also playing and active all day (when he's not napping).

My question: does anyone have any natural or homepathic solutions they would recommend or are we at the point when it's time to try antibiotics?

Thanks, Lara
