What Are You Drinking?

Thread Starter

In a few minutes I'm going to make myself a cup of decaf hot tea with honey. First cup of the morning, and if the baby keeps snoozing for awhile I'm going to be able to savor it. It's going to make my heart so happy after what has been a stressful morning (and it's only 8:40 here!).

So, what are you drinking right now? What hits the spot?

Coffee - my second and final cup of the day. And I've never had decaf ever. I cut down during pregnancy but caffeine doesn't seem to bother my nursling so I don't worry about it although I try to drink a big glass of water for every cup since it's supposed to be dehydrating.

Coffee, coffee, and more coffee. The better part of a pot.

1 cup of coffee (well, kinda big cup--2 cups measure, I'm sure) and a huge cup of ice water.  I don't go anywhere w/out my water.  I will have another cup of joe at 4.

Other than that lately I've been loving a nice cup of peppermint/spearmint tea w/raw honey from my backyard.

Now I'm drinking cheap red wine redface.gif

I HATE decaf, but even the tiniest bit of caffeine makes the baby go nuts

Cheap red wine is becoming an appealing idea - I think after the next pump I'm going to get myself a little glass too and toast the fact that this god forsaken week is over!

I miss peppermint tea SO much but it apparently can hurt your milk supply and I'm paranoid.

I'm drinking my usual cup of decaf tea again, but I didn't really get to it while it was hot so now it's just sort of room temp.

Regular green tea.  The Chinese drink it all day.  It is one of the best things you can drink. So many antioxidants.

I'm about to go for a glass of cheap chardonnay. From a box! Nursing, it doesn't make sense to open a bottle and let it go to waste if I'm only going to have a random glass here and there... so from the box it is!

Eh. Don't knock the box. I like Chardonnay as long as it's not too oaky. Cheap is fine.
This thread has made me realize that I consume four beverages, only one of them healthful: coffee, water, beer, wine. redface.gif

The box is certainly welcome at our house these days. Though I do miss the days of Freemark Abbey Cabernet Sauvignon, Grgch Hills Chardonnay and all the wines by Longview Winery (in Michigan's UP!) that are my absolute favorites... We have a bottle of 2005 Longview Pinot Noir that we were saving for New Years, but we kind of forgot to drink... can you believe that? Suddenly we're the type of people that forget to consume alcohol for special occasions. Weird.

Me too - my beverage intake is about that, except swap out the coffee for tea. Every once in awhile, I'll have a V8 and this winter I've really gotten into hot cocoa. I've got a water at the moment, but I think when my cinnamon swirl quick bread comes out of the oven I'm going to make myself a mug of cocoa to go with it. :-)

I read this a couple hours ago and thought, crap, that's me, only just the coffee and water. At least I don't drink calories.

So I am a little nuts tonight, having a beer in everyone's honor on a Tuesday. Haven't had one since Thanksgiving I think because we also forgot New Year's Eve alcohol kitchensqueen.

Ha! So I'm not the only one. It kind of makes me feel like some kind of failed adult... funny thing too, the only reason I was up on New Year's Eve was because I had to pump at midnight - otherwise, I totally would've been asleep. New Years used to be such a big deal before we had the baby, even if we only stayed home. This year was like, "okay, the year is over". Too funny.

I had a glass of my lovely boxed chardonnay with dinner earlier, and have had two sparkling waters since my husband was nice enough to buy a case on the way home for me! Sparkling water is my favorite way to consume water, but I'd better switch to plain for the rest of the night so I don't drink it all in two days.

I've just had a small glass of agua de chia. The seeds arrived today and I've only just got round to mixing up some chia seeds, water, lime juice and a tiny bit of sugar.

It's like I've been transported back to 1992 Mexico DF and I could drink gallons of the stuff it is so delicious!

My daytime tipple as a spiced rooibos tea which has cinnamon, ginger, cloves, black pepper and cardamom.

orangefoot do you have ratios of the aqua de chia?  I have a couple bags of chia seeds sitting in my pantry!

I just put a teaspoon in a glass of water and that's fine. You can eat up to a tablespoon a day if you want to but I take anticoagulants and that much omega 3 will mess up my meds.

Most recipes are for larger quantities like this:

1 cup chia seeds

2 quarts pure water

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup fresh lime or lemon juice, or to taste

Whatever quantity you make, do leave the seeds to gloop up for about 10 minutes or so before drinking it.
