What Are You Drinking? - Page 2

My dd and I spent the day watching an old movie (long) and drinking blueberry green tea.  MMMMM.  W/raw honey, of course.  I put the teabag into another cup of boiling water along w/a spearmint/peppermint bag and it was just the right amount of berry flavor left to make the 2nd cup so good!    I just need a bit of mint after taste in my tea, I guess.

Drinking hazelnut coffee right now and thinking about starting supper and listening to my son practice Chariots of Fire on the piano.

I've got a sparkling water right now, but I really want a cup of tea. We just finished up dinner, but I'm still hungry so I think of bowl of farina and a cup of tea would make a good dessert, especially since it's snowing here.

I'm drinking hot chocolate and it's SO yummy. It's a mix of milk, sweetened condensed milk and chopped semi-sweet chocolate.

Most recipes are for larger quantities like this:

1 cup chia seeds

2 quarts pure water

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup fresh lime or lemon juice, or to taste

Whatever quantity you make, do leave the seeds to gloop up for about 10 minutes or so before drinking it.

Thanks orangefoot, I will try this!!!

Today we have snow so I made Avena Caliente!!! So yummy!  First cook 1/2 cup of oats with 1 C water.  When thick (like for breakfast) add 2 Cups of milk, 3 TBS Sucanat (or to taste) & 1 tsp cinnamon.  Heat just until you see first bubble.  Transfer to blender. Be Very Careful!!!  I take the lid insert thing off the lid & use a towel to cover the hole.  Starting on slow & then going to high.  Blend until smooth.  Enjoy hot!  Makes 4 cups!

Hot green tea right now.

Two cups of good, strong coffee this a.m. (caffeine never has, thank goodness, bothered my nursling) and two cups of weak green tea.

We pretty much stick to coffee, tea, water, and a two-liter of generic root beer a couple times a month.

We also don't drink alcohol anymore but enjoy the occasional six-pack of non-alcoholic beer.  Ain't nothing like the real thing, baby, but it's got a decent enough taste that it's a treat from time to time.

Oh my - I have never heard of this but it sounds so good!!!  I only keep steel-cut oats in the house though....darn it.  I wanted to make a cup right now :(

I too, only drink water, tea & coffee, with an occasional beer or glass of red wine.  Now that I think about it, I think I'm going to make a cup of golden needle oolong to go with my maple rolls...yum!

I'm on my third cup of decaf tea today, but when husband gets home from the store, I intend to have a beer with dinner - he's picking up a Sam Adams sampler. :-)

I don't want to sound like an idiot, but is that the same as club soda?

Ok, so I was intrigued by Avena Caliente, so I made it.  So far 2 out of the 3 younger kids love it!  The other hasn't tried it yet, and if my oldest hadn't recently given up grains, she would love it too.  I liked it ok, it was very filling.  I think I'd enjoy it better w/more goat milk in it to thin it down some.  I made WAY too much, lol.  I think it will freeze fine, though, don't you?  I have an entire pitcher of it.

I'm sipping on a Sam Adams Mighty Oak from the sampler husband picked up this weekend. It's good and I like it, but this is their spring sampler. That they have released in January. Last I checked, we've got likely three more months of winter here yet... would it be terrible to drink hearty winter brews for a few more months? But oh well. It's tasty anyway.

I just finished some Coppola Rosso - YUM! My new favorite, affordable wine.  But darn it - I went to the grocery store today & forgot to buy oats to make the avena caliente!
