Mid-cycle bleeding (not Ovulation or implantation) help!

I started my period December 26th. It was completely normal, lasted 4 days with nothing out of the ordinary (was even the day I expected to start) and everything was fine... Well, on January 3rd (CD 9) in the evening, I started bleeding again. It started very light and was just kind of heavy spotting. I've never done this before... EVER. I'm normally a 26-28 day cycler with a 12 day LP with very little change to that. Well, today is CD 12 and it seems to be getting heavier. It's at about the flow of a normal period now. The thing that makes me really nervous is... it's BRIGHT red blood like it's very fresh... not like you know, period blood where you can tell it's not super fresh so that tells me I'm actively bleeding somewhere, right?

I called my Doctor and she has still not called back so I guess she's not concerned. The nurse said that unless it's over 7 days, they don't usually worry too much but it's odd that it's never happened before so I am kind of worried. I'll be 31 next week if that makes any difference. Just wondered if you wonderful ladies could ease my mind a bit. I do have a cyst on my cervix as well. I checked it this morning and it seems the same as usual but as I can't really see it, I'm not sure that's NOT the cause though. There has been absolutely NO pain or even cramps. I don't feel weak, tired or anything different than I normally do around CD 12.... At what point do I start worrying? At what point do I demand to be seen by a Doctor? And most of all, any idea what could be causing this? I definitely should stay away from the googling though... I scared the crap out of myself with the big C-word on many sites but as I just had a pap 6 months ago, I'm pretty sure it's not that, lol.

Here is my chart (without temps as we are kind of just NTNP right now) in case that helps a bit to understand what I'm talking about - http://www.fertilityfriend.com/ttc/

TIA!

I'm not a doctor or nurse, so I'm not much help. My initial thought was that this "second period" sounded like a miscarriage and the "first period" was bleeding during pregnancy? You should definitely see a doc to make sure nothing is wrong, though, in my opinion. Only an exam can tell you what's really going on.

I am only speaking from my own experience with mid-cycle bleeding, I had a couple months of mid cycle bleeding...sometimes it was just spotting, other times it was bright red like a period. I hadn't had a pap in 2 years (but the last one was normal). I went to the doc and found out I had high grade cervical dysplasia (abnormal cells) which sometimes causes the cervix to be very sensitive and sometimes bleed (although not always).
Since you had a pap 6 months ago, it is prob not the case, and cervical dysplasia is detected way before cancer so don't worry about that!
Some other causes could be a uterine fibroid, or a cyst bursting, or if you have been having sex frequently or douching sometimes the cervix is just irritated. Your doc should be getting back to you! Even if it is just to ease your fears, it is always nerve racking to not know what is going on in your body. You have every right to see the doc to rule out problems!
One another note....when I did experience mid cycle bleeding my naturopath had me take 400 mg Vit E and a strong yarrow infusion which always helped to stop the flow.

Good luck Hun!
