Holiday Schedule - Could you share yours?

Thread Starter

I'm in the process of creating an agreement and I know that people state mom with have child(ren) on XYZ Holidays in even years and ABC Holidays on odd years.

What are the holidays that are used (we celebrate christmas)?

What do you do about the child's birthday?

Thanks. :)

From our decree (for Daddy's visitation because I have primary custody - he has them about 35% of the time)

3. Holiday Visitation
    - On the following holidays every year:
        - Easter, Father's Day, Christmas Eve overnight until approx. 9am Christmas Day
    - On the following holidays during the even-numbered years:
        - Labor Day, New Year's Day, Fourth of July
    - On the following holidays during the odd-numbered years:
        - Thanksgiving, New Year's Eve, Memorial Day
    - Visitation on other holidays and birthdays will be determined by regular visitation
        schedule and past traditions.

in our case, we try to even up the time for kids birthdays, which are 4 days apart (and a week or so from mine). This was the first year that they wanted separate parties so I hosted one and Daddy hosted the other. We try to allow the parent who has a birthday to spend time with the kids on that day but to have the overnight free for grown-up time. It's changed a bit each year.

This is how our agreement is written out.

Holidays are periods of time that take precedence over, but do not break the continuity of, the regular parenting scedule.

Spring Break, (from end of school on Friday to 5pm on the Sunday before school resumes) (Mom even years, Dad odd years)

Thanks Giving (From 10am til 6pm on the day of the holiday)  (Mom even years, Dad odd years)

First half of Winter break  (From end of school on last day to 3pm on December 25th)  (Mom even years, Dad odd years)

Second half of winter break  (From 3pm December 25th until 5pm on the night before school resumes)   (Dad even years, Mom odd years)

Fall Break     (from end of school on Friday to 5pm on the Sunday before school resumes.)  (Dad even years, Mom odd years)

Mothers Day (Mom every year)

Fathers Day (Dad every year)

Three day weekends not specified above will be spent with the parent who would normally have that weekend until Monday 6pm.  Those 3 day weekends are ML Kings Birthday,, President's Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day and Columbas Day weekends.

I do regret agreeing to the winter break, and wish I had put the 5 days before and 5 days after as the break ends up very long not seeing the parent who doesn't have them. (I hated not seeing them for 9 days before Christmas)

I hope that helps you.
