"Top of her class" to "falling behind"

I am hoping for some advice. My 5 year old is in her 2nd year of Montessori and last year her teacher raved about how she was a leader in the class, very eager to learn and continually chose challenging work. This year has been a complete 180. She is often distracted and uninterested in her work. She has become a distraction to other children in her classroom and when I talk to her about school the only thing she will tell me is that it is "boring". Today I got a call from her teacher that for the last 3 days she would rather sleep in class than do her work and that she has fallen behind in reading and printing. There haven't been any significant changes in her life and she is getting plenty of sleep. Montessori school is designed to keep children engaged and free of boredom. My once bright and engaged child has thrown her smarts to the side and become disengaged and mopey. What do I do??????

Perhaps she has already mastered much of the material offered in primary. My son just started 4th in upper el and he is doing math of a 6th grade level.

If it is the work level see if spending a day in lower el would  get her motivated. If yes then perhaps for next year she can move to lower el instead of spending another year unmotivated and bored in primary. We have had kids in our school skip before. Forcing a child to stay in a level/grade when they  are ready to move on is not beneficial to the child, and it is simply not necessary to force them to do the 3 years in each level.
