Missed period due to increased nursing?

Over Christmas my 14month old was very sick and vomiting for 36 hours. During this time he continued to nurse frequently and I was able to keep him hydrated but he refused to eat solid foods for 8 days after this illness. He has been nursing more like an infant lately and has to be LATCHED ON ALL NIGHT. I was due to start my period on Jan. 2, 5 days ago, and still have no sign of it coming anytime soon. I have only had 4 cycles. I was wondering if anyone has had this experience where their cycle returns but due to frequent nursing right before when they are due for a period they skip it? I have looked some on kellymom but was not able to find anything about a missed period due to increased nursing sessions. We use condoms so there is a slim chance that maybe there was a faulty condom, but that is it, no unprotected sex. Just curious if any of this is even possible.

I would probably take a test just to be sure (that's paranoid me though lol) but, my periods were always very irregular while breastfeeding, and a couple times I missed them alltogether so based off of my personal experience I think it is likely you misses because of the extra breastfeeding.

From what I have read on the subject of 'natural' and' ecological' breastfeeeding, the extra nursing can definitely cause this to occur.
