Just got hypotonia dx from OT, do you think these things are connected?

Ds just turned 3 and started private speech therapy.  We had an OT eval b/c of sensory issues and when the eval came back I was blown away. he has fine and gross motor issues, along with stability (vestibular) issues and was labeled with 'global hypotonia'.  After reading about it, hypotonia explains almost every issue we've had since birth.  However, he seems to be losing some physical skills and I'm wondering if it could be related to hypotonia, can hypotonia become worse with time?  He's been completely toilet trained for more then 6 months but has been urinating on himself very often.  He almost always wets himself to some degree before he realizes he has to go to the bathroom.  About 3 months ago we had to buy a carrier, he stops walking.  He says 'his body won't let him', I thought that he was just being stubborn until I noticed that he isn't nearly as active as he was several months ago.  At the playground (where he used to be a climbing fiend), he can barely negotiate climbs he could do a year ago and spends much more time just running in circles around something.  He will often just stand with his hands under the water fountain instead of playing, even when his friends are there.  I've had to fore him to do fav things like go to the zoo or ride his bike.  He wants to lie down and play trucks or just roll in the couch cushions.  He is barely taking part in parallel play, wich is differant then months ago.  At night he chokes on drool to the point of gagging.  At the same time he can't seem to keep his body still.  We've always co-slept but is having to move out of our bed due to extreme movements while he sleeps.  I have woken up with bruises from his kicks and head bangs while he sleeps.  He falls whenever he runs, tripping over nothing and will literally fall over when carrying things like a large truck or pillow.

I think I should prob call our ped, but don't know what to say or what to ask for.  Can anyone give me some guidance?  I don't know how to help my little boy or what (if anything) we may be facing.

I don't know anything specific, but you should pursue further evaluation.

I think you need to push for a neurology referral for sure. I have no idea what may be going on, but there are a number of pretty alarming red flags in your post. Loss of skills is always concerning. If you tell your ped what you just posted, I'd be surprised if he/she didn't want to see your kiddo immediately.

Good luck to you- I hope you can get your boy in quickly.

I agree about asking your ped for an immediate referral to a pediatric neurologist. We see one who is with an institute for neurological disorders.

Tell your ped that you've noticed a pretty dramatic loss of skills in the last 6 months and that you need a referral to a pediatric neurologist ASAP. Describe for your doctor everything that you posted here, but maybe in list format.

I don't want to alarm you, but loss of skills isn't good, and needs a check sooner rather than later.
