NJ VBAC - Any new recommendations?

Hi!

I've been searching through MDC all morning to see who the current recommendations are for VBACs in NJ.  Can anyone tell me more about Dr Judy Banks at Morristown or Dr Kyle Bieter at St Peter's?  I live in Somerset, so Dr Bieter seems too good to be true, but worth asking!

I considered Hackettstown Midwives, who I used with my 1st and are now able to do VBACs at Morristown, but I don't think they accept my insurance anymore now that they're not with Dr Smith.  Avalon Midwives are an option too, but I'm reading more positive stories about Dr Banks if I'm going to go the Morristown route.

Are there any others who accept insurance that I should consider?

Thanks so much for any advice!

I've met and talked to both about VBACs.  I think they are both great and both supportive of VBACs.  I'd suggest making an appointment with each of them for a consult - see who you click with.  Maybe even tour the hospitals too.  I'm not sure what Dr Beiter's policy on monitoring is but I don't think St Peter's has wireless monitoring.  I *think* Morristown might have a unit available but I always hear mixed info on that!  Obviously St Peter's is much closer which would be an advantage for hanging out at home as long as possible.  However, they don't have laboring tubs or anything (although I have to admit that i preferred showers to the tubs).  I think midwives are wonderful (my VBAC was with Pam and Louise in Pennington) but there are certainly advantages to using a doctor who makes all the final decisions.  With those larger midwifery groups, obviously you will have different personalities and they still have to get everything approved by a doctor.  I would definitely suggest getting a doula too!  :)

I VBAC'ed with Avalon at Morristown in 2008, and they were amazing! I can't say enough about them. They were also wonderful when I miscarried in June 2010.

I have since moved out of the state, but if it were possible I would go back to VBAC again with them now that I am expecting again.
