roseola? UTI? What do you think?

Ok, so my dd (9 1/2 mths) was been sick with a fever (101-103 degrees) for 3 days. My mom is a Dr and she said it was likely dd had roseola (sixth disease). After 3 days her fever broke and she seemed to be feeling better, but then that night she started crying like she was in pain & seeming really sick, so we took her to the ER and they checked her out and tested her pee, which tested positive for a UTI. They gave her antibiotics and now 24 hours later she's all better, but now she has the classic roseola rash. So I called her Dr and he said maybe she was allergic to the antibiotics, and that's what the rash is from. I'm just wondering what people's thoughts are if you have had a baby that has had a UTI or has had roseola. Do you think she had both/could having roseola make her more likely to get a UTI? Or is everything from a UTI? I guess she's getting better now, so it doesn't matter too much either way, except that it would be good to know if she has an antibiotic allergy. Thanks!

I don't have any info about UTI and any connection to roseola. But just sharing my DS had a very typical case of roseola with the fever for 3 days with no other symptoms and then it broke, followed by the rash. I thought the rash would clear faster than it did, I think it took about 5-7 days to clear up.

Hope your DD is all better and the reaction was to the antibiotics. Take care!

thanks, it turned out she just had roseola and the hospital was dumb and forgot to call us to tell us her UTI test was negative.

Cuss.gif WTH! What an unnecessary use of antibiotics especially when her body was doing exactly what it needed to be doing with the roseola! Argh! I hope she's all better now! Do give her some baby probiotics for a while.
