Just adding...I burp N by letting her lay her tummy to my side/ tummy, perpendicular to me..with her feet and bottom touch the bed...that way I can semi doze while burping lol...N doesn't typically wet at night so that makes it easier. I only burp her if she seems uncomfortable though. She sleeps inside my armpit with the covers al the way over her, but, my arm leave a gap for her to get air. She loves it! I sometimes sleep with her on my arm for a couple hours if she falls asleep while taking a bottle, but, usually she won't sleep until I nurse her laying down (I can nurse her upright and then she will still want to nurse laying down right after lol...ritual I suppose...she's happy to nurse laying down for like 1min and she's out...but she MUST do it. In fact she will be kind of cranky if DH and I stay up late if we take her to bed and nruse laying down she calms instantly and goes to sleep. So cute).

Oh and I haven't figured ut the clothes thing either...my shoulders also get cold!

We found a place to live on Friday! I feel like a huge weight has been lifted. We had all these hurdles we had to get through before things started going back to normal and moving on the 1st will be the last one. We made it through the birth, Christmas, and New Year's and now we just have a few weeks left before we move into our new place. It's smaller than our current apartment, but it's really nice and in a good neighborhood so we're happy with it. DD's last day at preschool was on Friday and I'm a little nervous about being home all day with DD and DS these next 2 1/2 weeks but it should be okay. We pulled her out early so we would have some extra money for the move. I just hope I can get more packing and cleaning done with her around.

Yay Caitlin! Great news! I hope packing goes ok!

Good luck Rusty, and so exciting about the move!

I just emailed the head of HR at my job to ask about pumping! I'm going to talk to my boss too, but just trying to do some of my own research first....I'm nervous because niether of these 2 are the most understanding when it comes to kids/family...the head of HR actually said to me, "why don't you just schedule a c/s then you will know when the baby is coming?" WTH!? she's like that about everything though from what I hear...clueless. lol. My boss just doesn't realize how she comes off...and it has been many years since she had children and I don't think she remembers what it was like!

I need to get to bed now - my goal is to start getting up earlier this week in preps for next week...I work at 6am some days and my job is almsot an hour away! Eeek!

So happy! My employer has a lactation policy that is actually a little bit better than the law!!! Yay!!! Now I am just waiting to hear back from my boss to see where we can convert space! The only loop hole is that my office DOES lock - but it is SEE THROUGH and I lock the swim coach out if I lock my office lol. I had this flashing thought of my boss saying I need to pump in my office and me saying, "sure, so long as you do not mind my breasts being entirely exposed." I can just imagine the young swimteam priest walking into coach's office.....LOL I'm totally fired up now lol I just don't even care! I ready a whole bunch of articles and blog posts about mamas pumping in public yesterday since I was trying to figure out just how to do this since I'm not sure how long at this point I will be pumping for even when with the baby....one of the stories was about a mom just whipping it out on a train and not covering at all...I mean why cover? We don't have to cover when nursing babies (granted the nipple at least is cover by their mouth lol)...I'm sure I will get a little more nervous whenever I have to do this the first time, but, so what. I need to feed my baby. I'm so done worrying about what everyone else thinks. I'm a mama BEAR caring for her BABY - do you want to get inbetween us????? ROARRRRRRRRR!!!! Probably not going to end well. ;-)

Poor Stephanie is stuffed up! She was having a tough time nursing this morning. We just got back from school... twice. The kids usually walk themselves, but I was worried about them crossing the side street and a car not being able to stop. Then DS called because he forgot his shoes. I think the cold air cleared her nose because she's fine for the moment.

Lilmomma, thats great about the policy. Would you be comfortable giving the swim coach a key so she can let herself through? Maybe they could put up mini blinds for you.

With my other 2 kids, there was a pumping room, but I had to go all over God's green earth to find the key, and by then it was 45min before I got pumped and everything. So I pumped in a conference room and sat in front of the door so noone could get in. Now they moved the pump room to right near where I work, and it's not locked, but other people are using it around the same time so I probably will end up doing the same thing.

My nips are feeling much better, I'm hoping to do a pump session in the morning starting tomorrow, I woke up sick yesterday and induced a fever last night and am feeling much better this morning.

I've missed you ladies! My dad was here for 4 days, then the day after he left my in-laws came and stayed for 5 days (they just left today), so I haven't had time to be online. It was great for the grandparents to spend time with Norah, but I'm ready to be "just us" again. She did well with all the new people, but I could definitely tell she was more "clingy" when I would get her back, and she wanted to comfort nurse a lot more than usual.

So now I'm on my own. Norah is a sweetheart and generally a very happy baby (she also sleeps a lot), so I know I've got it easy! She's a good nurser, too. Although she nursed literally all night last night, so I'm pretty sore today! And she's strong and determined... she's rolled over (back to tummy) twice! At 2 1/2 weeks!

The swim coach (male lol, though thankfully he does have 3 kids and is very much a family man - I have no idea if his wife breastfed, but, I feel he will be understanding when it comes to anything family/kid related...about the only thing he is understanding over lol) has a key but never brings it (our offices use the same key...the same key as all "high resitricted" areas (I use the term loosly lol) in the building. I did hear back from my boss (via email) and she said she is going to ask the swim coach if I can use his office, that I can use her office anytime she is not there (not sure how comfortable I am with that - but her office is REALLY nice LOL) and then she listed 3 other places in the building I could use (one is just barely acceptable, but, I feel like there is more than enough other options). I would prefer to have a specific room just for pumping, but, at least it looks like I will always have something available (if not I will push for a permanent arrangement). One of the rooms suggested is extremly rarely used during the week days so I feel good about that. I am so pleasntly surprised how this is going...wish I had talked to her months ago, I was so stressed over this...apparently for no reason!

Good luck Mammamo! I've been using olive oil on my nips before pumping and it's 10948309804928 times better - I was in SO much pain before! Plus it smells amazing which helps me relax ;-)

I think my supply is up a little bit, my breasts feel semi-full again and Naomi was swallowing when I nursed her earlier. I cannot WAIT until our chiro appointment tomorrow morning - really hoping there is a quick fix and she will be able to nurse better after that! I know it doesn't make us out of the woods by any stretch, but, it would be a step in the right direction!

I am going to take the kids to soccer practce tonight and THEN I am going grocery shopping. I am TERRIFIED!!! Seriously, so scared!!! I have not yet done any major errands without my hubby along! I'm thinking: Ergo for 2yo, Moby for baby, Cart for 4yo...I'm going to get a work out lol...but, I'm too afraid to do it any other way!

I so heart your post!!! You just sound so in love! :-)

Yeah, I chickened out of the grocery store tonight. Why? Here is my FB status I just posted:

"You know you are mom of 3 kids under 5 when....you realize you 4yo and 2yo are running around the soccer court during the "big kid" practice and you 2yo is half naked (because he used the water fountain himself while you were breastfeeding the newborn then proceded to undress while you were putting the newborn in her carseat)...then, it crosses your mind to yell at your kids like a maniac, but, you realize you are so tired that it's easier to laugh...and you won't remember it in 5 minutes anyway."

What I did not write is that 5mins later my kids ran out the front door of the Y before I could catch them..why didn't I write that on FB? Because I forgot about that part. LOL

I am so so so exhausted and 20 steps behind on everything!

Yikes! I got a headache just reading that!

I'm not going to have to cook all week, I did it all today. There's shepherd's pie in the fridge for tomorrow/the day after, and tourtierre in the freezer for a few days after that. I also made a batch of hamburger helper, which I've never had before but I tasted it and it's pretty good (it's a little tourtierrey because the cast iron pan was a little seasoned, I guess) It called for milk and DH is lactose intolerant, so thats for my lunches. I already had greek salad made and lettuce spun for caesar salad, so fresh veggies will be easy, and I've resigned myself to frozen for cooked veggies, and stocked up on those when we got groceries yesterday.

I needed one less thing to worry about this week... DD has her hearing test tomorrow, and we've got a midwife appointment on Thursday which wouldn't be a big deal but there's a big snow coming and it's not going to be easy getting around. Plus I have to pump this week because DH and I are going to a Mythbusters show on Sunday (mom is babysitting) and we've got court on Tuesday (I'm applying for sole guardianship of the two big kids, since XH is absent) That's going to be stressful, we've got no idea if he's planning on showing up... the only response I've gotten is that he didn't pay child support this month.

DH just brought DD2 to me because she wants to eat, so I asked her "Stephanie, how does a froggy eat flies?" and she stuck out her tongue. GENIUS! He walked away shaking his head, lol!
