Is this crib a bad idea (iron finished with epoxy)?

This is the most affordable Made in the USA crib I have found, and I LOVE the way it looks:

(I would get it in the bronze patina.)  Still, would you consider it to be bad for nursery air quality because it is finished with epoxy?

 

The other option I am considering is to go with something like this:

Of course, the wood is finished, as well.  It is made mostly of solid maple, but it is varnished with an espresso color.  I have to admit that I like a dark look, whether the material is wood or iron.

 

What do you think?

I wouldn't worry about either in particular. Any furniture you buy is going to be finished in some way. The nice thing about the convertible crib is that it is more versatile which can be important if your child turns out not to be a crib sleeper.
