M/S: could it be getting worse?!

I'm 17 weeks. I've been taking zofran since 7 weeks. I'm down to 2mg per day. I take it when I wake, every day, and I've been able to eat with a good appetite, work out, etc. At the end of the day I often feel a bit queasy and fix myself a hot chocolate or hot milk and do just fine.

Then came Sunday: up in the middle of the night several times throwing up. :( I thought maybe it was the rich food I ate (included some beef, which I rarely eat). No one else got sick and it was food that everyone ate (like, more than a dozen people). The next day I did not take the zofran and suffered from one more episode of vomiting and nausea throughout the day. I finally took the zofran in the late afternoon and by the next morning felt almost 100%.

However, since then, it seems that the nausea has escalated again. It is OK in the am and then gets worse throughout the day. If it was a food-born illness, it would be gone by now, so all I can guess is that something else is up. I'm sooooo discouraged. Just hoping I could totally quit the zofran, but if I do, I'll need full-time help again. It's terrible.

Any thoughts?

I am 18 weeks along.  I was sick from week 6 to 17.  Then on New Year's weekend I started to feel better.  I had started Floradix (the gf kind) and B12 that weekend.  I felt pretty good for a couple days but now I am back to extreme nausea.  SUCKS!  I take a Zofran every morning.  I haven't thrown up in a week.  But what was with that small window of feeling ok?  I have been able to exercise since I started the Floradix and B12 but I can barely eat, just salad, satsumas, apples, a tiny bit of cereal and sometimes potato chips and sour patch kids (the last two help my tummy).  I've tried to eat other food but it just makes me so nauseous.  So, my story is a bit similar to yours.  Maybe we just got a little window.  But it doesn't sound like a food borne illness.  Who knows.  I was sick until almost 6 months when I was pregnant with my daughter.

I hope we both feel better soon!  -thecountrymouse

Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that, sraplayas! I'm almost 17 weeks and still feel slightly nauseous most of the time (it's definitely worse in the evening), but it's been a couple of weeks since I needed to take zofran (though I still carry it in my purse). How often do you eat? I find that the nausea gets worse if I don't eat a little something every few hours. I also have to stick to small meals - if I eat what I would consider a "normal" meal, it's too much and I feel like I'm going to throw up.

Countrymouse, I ate a lot of Sour Patch Kids early on. I sent DH to the store for sour candy and it was the only thing he kind he could find, but they turned out to be the right thing. winky.gif

Hopefully someone else joining you in the misery will be helpful because I am right there too!  I've also been on zofran since week 7 and I am now 19.5 weeks and still very much reliant on it.  I still feel nauseous often and still throw up sometimes but thankfully 2 weeks ago I felt a lot better than I had been and can now function again.  Hope you feel better soon!

It's really amazing how much sour patch kids ease my nausea. I usually eat an all organic, whole food diet so I'm not feeling bad about this venture into some junk.

I meant to add too just incase it helps someone else.  I LOOOOOVE rooibos tea (my friend sent me some about 2 weeks ago) and it actually DOES ease my nausea a lot.  Worth a try...

Rooibos tea? I have some, I think, that my aunt brought back from South Africa. I think it's about a year old though--would it still be good?

Thanks--I'll give it a try!

BTW, I've been feeling better overall but really have to watch the acid now (chocolate, tomato sauce, etc.). It seems to be a trigger for nausea. And, I can't push through an event like I have been doing b/c I get really nauseas then, too. It's a bit disappointing b/c I thought my energy would return as in my last two pregnancies and now I just feel like I skipped right into my third tri. as far as physically feeling awkward and tired at night. Trying to just go with it!

sounds like we need a zofran clan!  I have been taking it since around thanksgiving when I got so weak I couldn't stand it anymore.  Still taking it at 18 weeks!
