In labor, baby's heart rate should be about what it usually is.
Â
Some moms have super powerful contractions which can reduce blood oxygen supply to the baby during the contraction. This can, in some cases, cause baby's heart rate to drop just a little bit, but it should come back up once the contraction is over. If the heart rate does not come back up after contractions or stays low for a long time after contraction, it's an indication that baby is distressed and emergency help is necessary.

Normal HR is, I believe, about 120-180, but it's more important to know what's normal for YOUR baby.
