DS used to nap, like from 1:30-3:30 but he hasn't regularly in about a year. He's 3 now. I feel like he might benefit from going back to naps again. Half the time when he doesnt' get enough sleep at night, he'll still end up going to bed too late and is in a sleep deficit again. I feel like naps might help this problem. for a few months he was on the same sleep schedule with DD 8pm-8am but that stopped and hasn't happened in several months now. he usually is up by 8, and then up until 10 or so but could probably go to bed earlier, it just doesn't always happen. DH gets home late and wants to spend time with him. Ideally he'd be in bed by 9 and up by 7, and maybe a short nap during the day? He just doesn't seem to need as much sleep as alot of other kids his age, but I'm thinking he may benefit from a daytime nap again. I also think it will help me keep DD on a sleep schedule as well., She's 8 months old and I think she needs more consistency to her day. How do I go about this though? what about if he doesn't take a nap...do I just roll with it and give him naps when he needs to and not when he doesn't?

Todays a good example. He was up at 6:45 after going to bed at 10..I have no idea why, but whatever lol..He passed out in the car by 3:30 because he'd been up for so long. I let him sleep an hour and a half and woke him up because usually if he makes it to 2 or 2 1/2 hours he's up LATE! He also gets very spazzy and hyper when he's overtired, but today after I woke him from his nap, it's like it got him back on track again, he's calm and happy and not spazzy. I miss that boy! :)
