WA Mamas

Hi mamas...

I know we had a WA thread back on our old DDC, but I think we should start one here! I know I'd love to have some RL friends, and maybe you would to? Maybe we could use this thread to chat about WA stuff (recommendations, the weather, whatnot orngtongue.gif) and plan meet ups!!

I am in Renton/Maple Valley area.

My parents are in Lynnwood (near Seattle) and my IL's are in Bonney Lake (near Tacoma).  We come home periodically.

Can I join too? I feel like I'm the only Canadian on this board, at least the only West Coast Canuck on here, and it would be nice to be able to connect with some ladies from the DDC who are relatively close. We do go down to Bellingham for shopping periodically, and occasionally Seattle for the weekend (though not since having kids.)

Of course! We go up to Canada sometimes, too! My husband is a HUGE Canucks fan and likes to go to games thumb.gif

Yeah, my FB is all lit up with snow announcements from WA friends and family!

I'm in the Kitsap area-  Seattle is just a ferry ride away thumb.gif  I would not mind a meet up at all!

We are surrounded by people with snow but don't really have any on the ground ourselves.  Even people across town have inches.  Whats with that?!  My kids are disappointed!

I'm near Federal Way.

We were just in Victoria BC this past October! And I had the best fish n chips of my life. HOLY. FREAKING. CRAP. I didn't know it was possible for fish n chips to be that good. Blew my mind. Anytime I see fish n chips on a menu anywhere now, I think "mm, sounds good, maybe i'll get that! Wait no.. it won't be nearly as good.. why bother..." I need to go back.. just for that fish. I better find some good mainland fish though, because the ferry costs a fortune! Like, $100+ each way.. geez..

Anyway, I'm in Kenmore. We should totally have a meetup, once anyone can drive without risking their life. I'd welcome anyone to come hang out at my house, or maybe we could go to the zoo or something? I have a pass and can get people in at half off.

We went to Victoria for Valentine's day last year (and conceived Rhyko! lol.gif) and had some kick ass fish and chips, too!! I wonder if it was the same place??

We used to live in Kenmore! It's a very nice place. I miss Third Place Books! We used to live there, practically.

I can't wait for us to meet up! And Rhyko and I will take you up on the offer to come hang out some day! We're pretty hermitty... we need to get out of the house! thumb.gif

We went to Fish on 5th. I think its a small chain, all called Fish on <street>. I love 3rd place books! And honey bear bakery. And honey bear bakery CAKE! I can walk there. Sorta. I guess most people wouldn't consider it walking distance since its a pretty decent walk, but I like walking on the burke gilman trail, and a 2-3 mile walk doesn't faze me. ooh and the raspberry oat muffins! those are great. They're vegan, and I'm not even close to vegan, but they're so yummy. I snag a couple from the day old basket whenever I'm there.

Mmm.. that fish and chips place is an easy walk from my Aunt's place. Super yum. There's a delish fish and chips place in Vancouver too, if you ever come here. It's called Go Fish.

I love Vancouver! I've been dying to take a day trip there one of these days. Spring would be lovely. If you take Amtrak from Seattle, theres a decent stretch where the train is between like a mountain or cliff or something, and the water. Breathtaking! There's a train that leaves Seattle first thing in the morning, and Vancouver in the evening (at least there was last I checked) I'm probably over romanticizing the trip, course. Last time I took the train to Vancouver it was when I was 18 and it was right in a time where there was lots of major life changes and a weekend ALONE away from it all was HEAVENLY, the train ride so relaxing and blissful. If I went NOW I'd spend more time dealing with kids than daydreaming while staring out the window. Oh well. But oh.. if that fish is as good as fish on 5th, it'll be worth a trip!

We've got about 6 inches of snow here in Fairwood! I haven't been out in it myself (except on the back porch) but the dogs are sure enjoying it! lol.gif

The snow you guys received in the PNW was all over the news this morning! I was thinking of all of you!

People around here are so funny when it snows!  Its like the world comes crashing down and we are all paralyzed.

We got about 8 inches and me and the kids played in it ALL day :)

The snow storm is over! No more excuses for being hermitty, lets get together :) I can host a day time play date, or a mama/baby night out at 3rd place books would be awesome! Just because I'd rather leave my big kids with daddy than bring them there. Or saturday afternoon works too. I'd suggest a zoo trip but the forecast is full of rain so that wouldn't be much fun. Luna? Ash? Jhs? I'm free pretty much any day the rest of this month. Except maybe friday afternoon.. might have a cousin play date coming up but not sure if thats still on.

Because of the older kids Im only free on weekends.  But if somebody wants to pick a weekend and a place Im pretty likely to show :)
