Sudden nipple pain with DS 13 months

A few days ago I started feeling a pain in my right nipple.  I looked and could not see any marks etc.  But one of the the little white "bumps" around the nipple (forgive my ignorance, are these the ducts?) was especially sore.

It is possible that DS bit down on my nipple area causing the pain.

From then on it has been excruciating every time DS latches on.

DS is 13 months and we've had no issues with latch on etc since I started breatfeeding.  My left nipple is completely fine.

I've been using lansinoh to soothe the nipple, but I'm completely perplexed as to what caused this, and if there is anything I can do to speed up the healing.  I notice that the little white bump above my nipple is still quite sore and tender.

Also, just FYI, when a mom comes in with sudden pain after mostly pain free BFing, the initial expectation is thrush...can you see an IBCLC? Maybe attend an LLL meeting?
