Looking for someone experienced diagnosing posterior tongue ties? (x-posted) - Page 2

Yes, he's an ENT.  I don't know of any dentists in the area who are knowledgeable about TTs.  Dr. Epstein did let my friend know her son's TT would have caused speech and dental issues had they not clipped it.

Haha...just did a google search and brought my own thread up!! I am wondering though...if anyone who had there child's tongue tie divided by Dr. Goldstone, had a problem that he did not cut far enough back? My DDs still seems really tight...though much better than it was. I am trying to decide if I am going to go back to him or go somewhere else or do nothing...

Also, just sharing...Dr. Manilla in Hagerstown did an upper lip tie revision for us...we found that she DID need both.

I have definitely heard of folks needing PTT done twice.  Not specifically with Dr. Goldstone, but others.  Have you tried talking to Ann Faust at Baby and Me LC.  She is an expert on tongue ties, all her kids had them, and she was a British pediatric surgeon before moving here.   She might be able to talk to you about whether or not a reevaluation and second procedure would be worth the time.

I had never heard of her, but, I just sent her an email briefing her on our story, and asking if she thinks she can help or has ideas or anything.... Thank you.

I keep googling my own thread! but since it popped up. Just sharing that eventually I did go to Dr Kotlow in NY (I also saw Ann Faust, who helped with a couple things). Dr Kotlow said it looked as if she'd never been revised. I will never go back to Dr G and would discourage others...we ended up having 3 separate revisions and could have just had one if we went to Dr Kotlow first. I thin Dr G is kind, but, does not really know posterior ties and lip ties as he should.

I just wanted to share another doc in Baltimore who does tongue ties, Dr. Robert Marcus.  He's a pediatric dentist.  My daughter's posterior tie and labial tie were both revised today and I'm very pleased with how it went.  My middle son's PT was revised by Dr. Goldstone and not nearly enough was cut.  We're going to have his re-done eventually as well.  Dr. Marcus actually studied with Dr. Kotlow and they still confer on cases together.  I was so glad I didn't have to drive to Albany to find someone capable of doing the job completely!

Lol this is full circle! I've not seen Dr Marcus but started recommending him and have had great Conversation with him! So great to have a GOOD provider in Maryland!

Hi,

My 3 week old son has/had PTT and lip tie and Dr.Marcus performed the lazer procedure yesterday and his suck has changed but needs some work. Can anyone recommend a chiro with craniosacral experience for latch issues in the Philadelphia area? Also I am looking for an LC who has experience with retraining after PTT surgery.

Thank you!

Angie

I am so glad to see this thread--and thrilled to discover that a couple of the recommended providers for diagnosis/division seem to be covered by our new insurance. I would love to hear anyone's experience with lactation consultants in the Baltimore area who work with tongue ties. We are planning to have our 6 week old son's anterior tie clipped (or lasered), but I would also like to get some help with latching, biting, and other issues that have come with the tie.  Any LC recommendations other than Ann Faust? She doesn't seem to be covered.

I see she is following the thread already, but, I would suggest Katy Linda or Flossie Rollhauser for IBCLCs nearish Baltimore

ETA- I have not seen either of them, but I have had some extensive chats with Flossie and have heard from other IBCLCs as well as moms and Dr Marcus that Katy is good. :-)
