This is kind of an odd question, but I feel like the ladies on here probably have the most experience. For the last 8yrs, I have been either pregnant or nursing or both. About 3-4 weeks ago, my 3.5 yr old finally weaned completely. She had been down to about 2-3 nursings for almost a year before that, but my breast still ache at night and sometimes in the morning, which are the times she used to nurse. It has been almost a month, how long should I expect this to last? Thanks!

I was just jumping on mothering to ask the same thing, except it's only been a week for us. My breasts are VERY tender right now, just finished my cycle (so I'm not pg). I've nursed three kids and this is the first time I've experienced this kind of discomfort. My ds is 2 years 9 months. Anyone?

From what I have gleaned over the years, the way your body (& mind) react to weaning is very, very individual. Just like some women are dy immediately upon weaning and others have milk years later, some women have absolutely no breast pain and others have twinges for years.Â
Â
An additional  issue is that women who have breastfed for a number of years are also often more in tune with their breast health so more likely to notice any sensativity.
Â
With both of the PPs I really would try not to worry about it.
