Dyed wool cover and lanolin retention

I dyed several wool covers and lanolized them afterwards, compared to my other lanolized wool covers the dyed ones seem very dry and also get wet much sooner. Could dying process impact the lanoline absorption? Any thoughts? Thank you!

Just sounds like you need to lanolize them a few more times before using.  The dying process (I assume heat-setting) can strip the lanolin, and like applying lotion to super dry hands, you may need several applications to remoisturize.

I was thinking the same thing with a pair of longies, I kept applying lanoline with no change. I finally threw them in water with a good wool wash and scrubbed like hell. I let them dry and then lanolized again which finally worked. When I washed the wool a ton of dye washed down the sink so I think it was the dye but don't worry, they didn't look dull after all that washing :)
