Tell me about Destin Florida?

would love to hear from other mommas about living in Destin, considering taking a trip there to see if we would like it, We homeschool, I am sahm,I do not drive, so public transportation and walkabilty would be number one for us, is there a big sense of community (homeschool, parks librarys etc)... thank you in advance!

I don't live in Destin, my parents have a house there, and I would say that public transportation is non existent. It is also not a walkable city, so keep that in mind.

I live down the street from destin , in ft.walton beach , and Destin is a bit big. There's quite a bit to do there as far as fun and shopping and restaurants , but I definitely wouldn't say there's much of a sense of community unless you're attending one of the family friendly functions. And there are quite a bit because this is a military area and all of us military wives pretty much have kids. So they have alot of stuff that goes on in this area for families for the hol.idays. And I love uptown station , especially during the summer , because they have free outdoor movies and it's quite relaxing , even with the kids running around. I can't say much about the transportation and whatnot but I'm sure that's something you can google.
