cant kick this cough

Thread Starter

20 month old dd has had a cough for a few weeks now.  it has gone from frequent and wet to less often and mostly dry.  now it comes a few times a day and a few times at night, no "fits", no vomiting, just a cough.  it has gotten better, much better but she still coughs.  DS2 had a very similar cough that started at the same time and has taken the same course but is now pretty much gone, may be once a night he wakes up coughing.  I am honestly not too concerned anymore as it has gotten much better and there was never any other signs of illness except a day of two of runny noses at the onset.  DH on the other hand is upset/frustrated/concerned about it and at the length more then anything.

She still bfs and it is near impossible to get her to take anything, bought 2 bottles of homeo cough syrup at the start and she would just spit it all out, every time.  what a waste.

should I be more concerned?  the though of taking her/them to a doctor is unsettling.  we just moved and have not found a ped. yet.  also I don't usually go to dr's because of the over medicating problem.

advice?

Which cough remedies did you try?  I found Similasan Cold and Mucus Relief, and it tastes really good.  It's a sweet, nutty, honey flavor.  They also have one for Cough Relief, but I don't know if it tastes the same.

Sambucol is also effective, but the taste may not be as pleasing.

I found both the Similasan Cold and Cough and Sambucol at CVS.
