Help! Why is my cloth diaper AIO leaking and "pooling" in the back and pee goes everywhere when...

I have bitti tutto covers that are AIO and came with snap on inserts, but ever since I started using these covers .... when it got cooler b/c they make my son (5 months old) hot in the warm weather ... I stuff them with an organic cotton pre fold CD and they've been so wonderful. I practice EC but I use CD when we're not at home or if I cannot devote all my attention to catching pees. Anyway.

When I unsnap the cover, I notice that the urine has accumulated in the back of the diaper at the top and when I take it off the pee goes everywhere. The inside diaper will be dry sometimes and other times wet. Wth. What am I doing wrong? They look like they fit perfect. I did a test on the actual pre folds and they absorb water ... I don't GET IT.

We cosleep and the pee now gets on my bed. :( :( help me PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!

My son is uncirc if that makes a difference, is 5 months old, sleeps in bed with DH and I and is EBF and he loves to sleep on his tummy mostly.

NAK...

It sounds like the pee isn't being wicked through the layer against his bottom, is that right? It could be that the cover isn't fully prepped or has a build up on it, perhaps try a few super hot washes with no detergent and see if that helps... also sometimes I have noticed that the stay-dry fabrics sometimes have a hard time absorbing fast enough when baby does a really forceful pee. We have had this problem at night with Bumgenius pockets so I have just been using really absorbent fitteds with a Thirsties cover.

I recently purchased a gently used itti bitti d'lish AIO and an itti bitti tutto AI2 and didn't like either one, the AIO gapped at the leg openings and the AI2 leaked and I didn't like the materials used on the inside and all the snapping layers. It leaked on me too and I had just given it several hot washes so I assumed my son had just done a fast and forceful pee and it couldn't absorb it.

Sounds like an absorbing issue. I had the same problem with Grovia diapers. We use Sandys by Motherease with two bamboo inserts and fleece pants to keep our family bed dry. Maybe try stripping the diapers with Dawn soap?
