So happy for you! You must be so thrilled!

Feeling so blessed by this birth.  It can be such a wild, unpredictable process, and everything went so smoothly this time.  Labor started fast and hard just after DD went to bed.  Contractions 5-7 minutes apart for an hour, then all of sudden 2-3 minutes apart so we hopped in the car.  6/7 cm when we arrived.  I got through transition by telling my husband over and over how much I loved him, and loved our babies, and our family...it was strange but wonderful.  I did have very intense back labor, but just when I reached a point where it started feeling really hard to handle, I asked my midwife to check me and she told me I was 9.5!  After only 3-4 hours of real labor!  (Amazing, considering last time took 48 hours to get to that point.  No nuchal hand this time, yay!)  I pushed him out in a squat and had just a minor tear.  We went home from the hospital the same day.  Baby is nursing very aggressively and not giving me much rest, but I hope to catch some zzzzzs later.

Best of luck to everyone still waiting!!  So looking forward to reading all your stories.  joy.gif

Cadence Fay was born on Valentine's Day 10lbs 8 oz 21 inches long. It was a hard birth with lots of scary decisions and two hours of pushing leading to a c-section. But baby and I are both healthy and she beautiful!

I'm so sorry your birth was hard and filled with frightening moments. That can be hard to process. Thankfully you and baby are healthy and happy. That's what really matters, though I remember from my own previous delivery, that I had to process for months.

hug2.gifI'm sorry your birth was difficult and scary. I hope you are able to work through and process it OK. My first birth was that way and it was very hard on me. I'm glad you're both healthy! Contratulations!!

Our little boy, Ever (Peace-? I think, we're still deciding on names!) Was born at 7:55 this morning! I will post the story as soon as I write it, but it was short, about 3.5 hrs at home. We had him unassisted, with just myself, DH, and DS and he was a surprise breech - what a shock to see a little booty coming out of me! The MW arrived shortly after:)

I'll post the story and pics later...these after pains SUCK! I feel like I've been birthing all day!

Saturday at 6 am I awoke to contractions 6 minuets apart after only 4 hours of sleep. Despite many attempted efforts to ease the contractions I was not able to. I continued most of the day on Saturday with these contractions but the intensity and length seemed to be getting slowly stronger.  After my husband arrived home from working we decided to get things together for the hospital just in case and go out and walk and see what happens. We packed up the car and headed for the mall. We walked around the mall a bit and my contractions were then 2-3 minuets apart. It was getting hard to walk through my contractions so he decided we should go to the hospital. We arrived there and I was about 3 cm and 80% -2 with contractions about every 3-5 min. They admitted me. In the room, since I was both GBS + and a VBAC, I was hooked up to continuous fetal monitoring, an IV and antibiotics. Things at this point started to slow way down. I labored through the night with no sleep. I was allowed out of bed and was going to the bathroom frequently so I was able to move about quite a bit but not to leave the room. I spent time in many positions including on the birth ball. The next morning at about 7 I had progressed to only 4 cm and 90%.  Around noon I was to almost 5 cm. Things became serious and difficult after this. I was very tired having only had 4 hours of sleep since Thursday night and it was now Sunday not to mention I hadn't had anything substantial to eat since Saturday morning. Around 3 pm my body started shutting down. I was on the verge of completely loosing control. I was shaking and sobbing and my contractions had gone from 3 min apart lasting for more than a min to between 8 and 10 min apart. It had become clear to my husband that I needed some help. I began pleading with my body to just let me sleep for a few moments and that turned into a request for pain medication. I just did not see how I was going to finish in my current condition. GOD BLESS my DH and Doula. The tried so hard to reason with me and remind me what I wanted and why I wanted it but I remember this point in time where DH was looking straight in my eyes and walked into the hall and got someone to help us go over our options. My OB kept saying over and over again how proud she was and I shouldn't be upset and that most moms don't make it that long without wanting some help. I got the epidural around 4 pm. I rested very well for the next 2 hours. The Dr came in again and I was 6 cm and 100%. She really didn't want to break my water with me being GBS+  but wanted my contractions to be more regular so we started on 1 milliunit of pit. My water broke right after this. The pit was slowly increased to 3 milliunits and then shut off when I began to run a shallow fever. By 6:30 my fever had increased some more and the OB came to check in on me and I had finally hit 10 cm and 100% and the baby was there. She was concerned about the fever so instead of laboring down she asked if we could push down. I began pushing right around 6:40 and our baby boy was born at 8:02 pm! He was placed on my chest and the cord was allowed to completely stop pulsing before it was cut. The placenta came only minuets after this. All the while I was snuggling my beautiful baby! Around 45 min later he was weighed wiped down and daddy put on his very first cloth diaper. We then began to nurse and he had a GREAT latch from the very beginning. Later we were taken to the mother and baby unit. Aside from some issues I had with peeing it everything was great. We were discharged, at our request, 24 hours following the birth. All in all, my birth plan was followed to the letter. No one even asked me about circ or vax or even taking the baby out of the room. We were able to give him a bath with our soap and he's never once been in a disposable diaper. I can not even begin to tell you how happy I am with the hospital and my OB. It was much more smooth than I could have dreamed of giving what I was up against. I don't regret any decisions that were made. I think it was in the best interest of everyone involved. The important end goal is that I pushed my baby out and that we are happy and healthy.
