I need some help with my 6.5 week old daughter. I think she may have GER and/or intestinal inflammation?Â
Â
Here are her symptoms:Â
1. vomiting - she doesn't appear to be in pain when she does it. Lately it happens about once per day, this is more frequent than what it's been.Â
2. heaving - she's been dry heaving a couple times per day. Typically it's when she's laying down, either in the cradle position for feeding or when i'm laying her down to sleep/nap.Â
3. coughing - happens several times a day. They're not long coughing spells, just a few coughs.Â
4. green stool - she's always had a green seedy stool - not sure if this means she's getting too much air when she nurses?Â
5. stool consistency - she frequently had some mucus-like appearance in her stool and she sometimes has a tinge of blood in her stool also. It's not a bright red blood, but just tinges of red amongst the seedy green consistency.Â
6. let down - I think I have a heavy letdown reflex (particularly on my left breast) when she nurses on that side, she's gulping and it seems like she's barely keeping up with the milk flow.Â
7. cries - she doesn't cry a lot and she sleeps for several hours at a time, but sometimes her cry sounds like she's in pain which makes me think she's having reflux or trouble passing her stool.Â
8. spit-up - she's been spitting up more, sometimes this is when I burp her, not always though.
9. burping - I burp her after each feeding or when I switch breasts, but she doesn't always burp.Â
10. keeping her upright - after each feeding I try to keep her upright for 30 mins. But when I lay her down (after the upright 30 minutes) to change her diaper she sometimes will spit up when I pick her back up.Â

Background Info:Â
She's exclusively breastfed - bottles and pacifiers have not been used. I breastfeed her on demand, typically in the cradle position. I also breastfeed laying down but I think i'm going to back off of that because i'm not sure if she gets as good of a latch. First when we thought she had intestinal inflammation I was block feeding (nursing her 2 or 3 times on one breast to ensure emptying and getting enough hindmilk). Now that we think she has GER, we're doing shorter frequent feedings so I'm concerned that now she's getting too much foremilk because of the shorter frequent feedings.Â
Â
I'd like to think the problem(s) can be solved by my method of nursing as opposed to medication...any suggestions? Thanks so much for all your help - this is our first child so we don't have the advantage of comparing this to anything and we're not sure what our next steps should be.Â
