GOTTA watch. I'm paying attention to the sounds my baby makes...so far she's told me she was hungry and that she needed to burp.

Oh, you found it! I went looking for this after cwill mentioned it last week, but I'm google challenged sometimes. Stephanie's 'neh' sounds more like 'nay' and I've been using 'nay-nay' for our nursing word. I think she's saying it on purpose now. She had her hearing screen yesterday and I asked the speech pathologist if it was possible, and she said yes. Today when she woke up, she was hungry but I wanted to change her first and when I put her down on the table, she looked around and yelled "NAY!!" I sort of recognized some of the other sounds when they were going through them, but I hadn't associated them with anything on my own... except maybe the grunty-poo-poo one, LOL!

I've heard of this before--it's really made me aware of the sounds Winter repeats, and learning to discern the meanings of his individual cries and sounds.

Am I a little insane, though, that what I really notice about this video is, in the section where they have all the mothers and babies together, how many bottles those mothers are whipping out and not a single breastfeeding pair to be seen?? How can a large group of mothers and babies under three months not have nurslings? Do that many people really not nurse their babies? I think I live in an alternate world where every baby gets the breast.....

I noticed that too Azadehhast.  But a lot of people introduce bottles even when they mostly feed at the breast.  And I don't know that I would feel comfortable breast feeding on national TV.

O mostly tells me that he's sleepy or has to burp according to that lady when in reality he usually is hungry.  I think I should play him the video so he can get his act together.

I haven't watched the video yet, but I've noticed different sounds DD makes, but -mostly- I find it interesting that for her first few weeks we were really good about signing milk to DD, and now I swear she signs it back to us, especially when she's really angry and hungry. I didn't think she was old enough to really get it, but it seems like she does.
