Keuriweo, there are so many really pretty Hindi names, I would definitely go all out with the  it.

Iamleabee, Judah is a great name and I love the nn Jude.

I thiiiink we're close to deciding that this is the name!

Calder James M (my last name, since DP's last name is 2 syllables ending in -er). Nickname would be Cal, but he could also go by CJ.

I think we want to stick with a J middle name, but I'm not set on James. Maybe you guys have ideas?

I want a few backup names in case we meet him and he's just not a Calder. I would like to have Bram (short for Abram) on that list, but DP isn't into it. Same for Weston. DP likes Teagan, but it rhymes with his ex-wife's son (who he parented for a couple years, so I feel a bit weird about it) and I think it would've worked better for a girl. The other names we agree on we're kind of "eh" about.

Hi All,

I've mostly been in the September DDC because I'm due Sep 1 but I'd like to join everyone here as baby could come in August, too!

I'm having a boy and we've decided on the name Dexter David. Runner's up were Eli and Greyson. But I loooooove Dexter and DH loves Dex so there you have it.

thanks for the input shy.gif. so far it's our top choice though we're not 100% sold yet.

My husband and I finally agreed on a name.  Montgomery Vaughn.  Yay!

Ohhh, Montgomery! LOVE THAT!

eleuthia - Calder James is soooo awesome!  What a handsome-sounding name.  :)

And Maman!  Dexter is great.  DW tried to convince me to like Dax for a boy, but luckily we didn't have to have that argument.

Congrats, Tennessee, on Montgomery!  Do you anticipate calling him by a nickname?

So we are likely naming our daughter Everleigh Jane ... though we are telling everyone it isn't 100% in case she's just not an Everleigh when she's born.  But we've been referring to her as Evie since we found out she's a girl, and so have our families.  Yay!  I love having a way to refer to her, not only as "she" or "her" but also as Evie, or EJ or Ever.  :)

Monte is short for Montgomery.  I think he will probably have a nickname until he can pronounce his first name.  lol!

Everleigh Jane is great! So many cute nickname possibilities!

And I like Dexter/Dex as well.

My nephew thinks we should name the baby Tony Hawk H lol.gif

Eleuthia - Calder James is a great name! Callum is another favorite of mine, really like Cal for a nn. J names - I like Jace and Jory. :)

Tennessee - I like Montegomery and nn Monte is so cute!

DesertSunsets  - Everleigh Jane is so pretty. A friend named her daughter Waverleigh, she's Wavy or Witty for short. You could add Etty to your nn list. :)

We still like Louisa but I'm stuck on the middle. The list is Jane(my mom), Tilly(family name), Maeve or Tierney (DH family names). We also like Ainsley as a back up and I like Rowena but DH isn't a fan.

Oh man, I am so envious you all have fabulous beautiful names picked out (or narrowed down).
Now that we won't know the sex, it changes everything.
I am such a traditionalist when it comes to names.
So far we love Annabelle, Samuel, Jonas, Benjamin, Emily, and I love love Oliver, but Dh has vetoed it again and again.
Perhaps though, if it is a boy, and I have the magical birth I dream of, he will let me name him Oliver. Hehehe.

P.s. Everleigh Jane is so beautiful. Love it so much. Also Jude is super cute.

What do people think about the name Ripley for a first name for a boy?  We were throwing it around as a middle name for a girl, but it's a family name from DH's side and I wanted a girl middle name from my side.  The more I thought about it, the more I thought little Rip is pretty cute as a first name.  Any thoughts?  I don't know how it sounds to an outsider who hasn't been rolling it over the tongue for the last three weeks.  :)

Lilytiger - Ripley is really cute! I like that's its pretty unique, too.

I think Ripley/Rip would be super cute.  And it will work both for a cute little baby, and a teenager!

I'm getting more and more attached to the August/Gus idea, but 2 of the people we told seemed to think that August was a girl's name, and was ridiculous for a boy.  I've never heard of August being used for a girl?!  Funnily enough, about 5 minutes after my husband told me about people saying it was a bad name a woman and her son walked by and she called him...August.  So, who knows.

Ripley is a super cute name.

Penny, August was originally a boys name and if used for a girl was feminized as Augusta.  Same for Augustine/Augustina.  I love the name August, you should definitely keep it in the running.

LeeAnn, Louisa Maeve sounds really cute together.

Dovemama, your names are cute, I especially like Annabelle and Samuel.

Thanks Veritas!

LeAnn, Tilly is a family name for me too!
Ainsley is way cute, I know one IRL & I love saying her name.

Penny, Robi August is one of the names I have toyed w for a girl. Its a play on DH's name and I thought it'd be fun for a spunky little girl. Kind of like a Max or Sam idea, also his mom's name is Charletta and everyone calls her Charlie. :) But I think August is a beautiful name, girl or boy!

dovemama, I like Ainsley, too. But for some reason I'm having trouble w names that have long vowel sounds. :/ They just seem so nasaly to me. Idk, I think I'll know her name when I see her. :)

Love the feedback! It's fun to hear what everyone thinks. :)

I love Everleigh, ripley, callum, there are so many good names here!

This thread is giving me fresh eyes to look at my own short(long!) list of names..

If it's a girl I would like the middle name to be paula(family).. I was thinking Aveline Paula (pronounced av-eh-line)

In a perfect world I would love to use a Japanese name..but dh is aa and I am white, so do you think a Japanese name is going to far? We really like Suzume which means sparrow, pronounced sue-zu-may. We toyed with the idea of changing the spelling to Suzumi to make American pronunciation easier but then I'm not sure it means sparrow anymore, kwim? And also Paula doesn't really go with it. Amala, Ever, and Norah are also on my list.

We have a one syllable last name.

For a boy, I love the names Atley, Finnick, Greyson, and Gannet. The middle would either be Clark or Bradley which are family names. Leaning more towards Clark but then Finnick Clark doesn't work too well and that is one of my favorites. I feel like the k and c run together and cause problems.

It's funny, I feel like I spend so much time mulling these over in my brain until I get one that clicks and I like and I think sounds good and my grandmother just told me the other day, she doesn't think that either of my other threes names go together very well..oh well, I've learned you can't please everybody..and if someone wants to make up a nn for them, they will regardless of the names presented. Wow, that felt like a major run on in my head!

It's a very pretty name but I have to be honest that I think it's pretty odd to name a child something that comes from someplace that they have no ties to. Unless it's something that's been around so long it's just ingrained. But a Japanese name on a baby who isn't is a little out there for me personally. Especially when you're talking Japanese, which could lead to looking like a crazy otaku, you know?

Ninetales, yes, I know exactly what you mean. That's kinda how I was feeling but couldn't put words to it.
