Ooo... I like Miriam and Miri a lot. I had a friend when I was younger named Miri. I think dh doesn't like Miriam, though. But we are having a boy this time, anyway. :)

We will be expecting Miriam Amaya. We're planning on calling her "Miri". Since both of us are Jews, Miriam was a good choice because we wanted a traditional Hebrew name as either her first or middle and a lot of our other names we'd liked we felt were becoming hipster-popular, which we felt was a little less likely with Miriam. I fell deep in love with Amaya mid-pregnancy and firmly insisted it be her first name, but Ben did not like it enough to agree to it as a first name, so it became a firm middle name.

bjacques, I'm sorry to hear about your SIL - that was way uncalled-for and I think Connell is a nice name. Besides that, using "gay" as an insult? Who is a she, a homophobic thirteen-year-old boy? I'm sending positive thoughts your way~

Miriam is also the frontrunner name for me. I don't know if I'm having a girl, as I've said before. But I really love the name Miriam. So, I'm definitely in your camp. :)

I LOVE Miriam (and Miri) and Connell, too. These comments make me glad we decided not to tell anyone even though I NEVER thought we'd be able to do it, I agree it's nice to have something that will be surprise at birth.

Miriam is one of my favorite names! But I have a cousin named Miriam, so it was never in the running for us. I love Lillibeth and Nikolai too!

DH and I are terrible procrastinators. We still haven't picked names. We started from such different places, so it's taken a while for us to even be on the same page. Hopefully we can agree on something in the next 4 weeks or so... I think we are avoiding having the conversation though.

Miriam (spelled Miryam) is Z's middle name! :D so I guess you can say I like it.

I was convinced Miri was a boy and had the PERFECT boy's name picked out before her anatomical U/S. :P

FWIW, one of my favorite people was "Baby" until she was three months old and I do think there is some wisdom in seeing your baby's face before a final decision.
