Can GSE cause a yeast problem? (TMI ahead)

Last week I had a UTI and my midwife suggested I take GSE.  I took 10 drops 2x a day for 3 days (I also took 2 shots of apple cider vinegar each day, for 3 days).  Yesterday I noticed there is white "stuff" in my vaginal opening,  I thought it was just a lot of discharge at first, but it didn't wipe off.  It looks like thrush to me, but I've never heard of it being in the vagina.  Even Google didn't have much.  Is this a symptom of a yeast infection/imbalance, or something else?  I don't have any other symptoms of a yeast infection, or anything really.  It doesn't itch or burn and I don't have discharge.  Could the GSE have caused some kind of imbalance?  I'm taking a probiotic, will that help?  Any other suggestions?

TIA.

You know, oddly enough, GSE is often used to help kill off intestinal overgrowth of yeast.  But once it's exiting the body, it's dead.  It dies off inside of you and in fact, the die off can make you feel sick if it's a significant overgrowth.

Not to say that what you're seeing ISN'T yeast, but I would be surprised if the GSE CAUSED it.  Very weird.  But now I'm curious.

Either way, the pbx are a good thing. ;)  Whatever the GSE kills off inside would be replenished by the pbx.

That's what I thought, but the timing fit so I figured I'd ask the wise ladies here.

It's so weird.  Should I start taking the GSE again?  Or maybe apply it topically?  I really want this to go away.  It's not causing me any pain or discomfort, it just looks gross.  And knowing something isn't right is stressing me out.

I just wanted to follow up on this, I'm pretty certain I have a yeast infection.  And I've probably had it for a while.  The only symptom (up until I posted this) was occasional itching so I had no clue until I noticed the white stuff.  Anyway, I'm taking a probiotic daily.  I don't think that by it's self will help much, so I'm thinking of douching with either hydrogen peroxide, grapefruit seed extract, or vinegar.  Are any of these better or worse than the others?

PS, I'm 25 weeks pregnant.

Well, I might be overly cautious but I wouldn't be douching with any of those during pregnancy.  The probiotic actually SHOULD be enough if you're taking it in pill form and not just eating yogurt every day.

Also, seriously increase your fermented foods:  pickles, sauerkraut, red cabbage, the Italian stuff (giardinere?  I can pronounce it buy my family makes their own so I can never spell it :/ ) or drinking kombucha or kefir.  All of these will help.  As will removing as much sugar and quickly absorbed starches.

Thanks Heather!  I am taking a pill.  It's just acidophilus though.  Is that good?

No.  Find one that contains saccharomyces boulardii.  There are a few formulations out there that contain it, but you can also buy it individually (I know Jarrow makes it as a stand-alone and at least one other company does).

You've gotten some good advice, but I wanted to add that Natren's Healthy Trinity is good, too!
