Almost 41 weeks, no sign of labor?

Hello-

I am almost 41 weeks pregnant with DD#2 and am getting really anxious. I know babies will come when they are good and ready, but I am getting really impatient. My DD#1 was right on her due date. I know exactly when I conceived with this one, so I know the due date is not off. Any suggestions on how to deal with the anxiety?

Also, I have a family practitioner for this baby, and she is natural birth friendly, had her own daughters at home. She is not talking about induction yet, but she said she is not allowed to deliver once I reach 42 weeks (hospital rule). Anyone heard of this?

I would much rather try natural induction techniques, but am not sure when to start doing that. I don't want to rush this baby and am afraid that even with natural techniques my body won't be ready. What to do?

Well if your body is not ready, natural induction techniques will absolutely not work.

The first thing I would try (and the most fun in my opinion) is sex.  Tell him to give a little nipple stimulation while he's at it.  If your body is ripe, it will work like a charm.  It did for my first, but didn't for my second.  My body clearly wasn't ready in my second pregnancy.

As far as stress, that's a labor killer.  Take a hot shower.  Get ready for your adventure.  If it  doesn't work, maybe a massage and a little pampering so you are not sitting there stewing about it all day.

If it doesn't work, nothing might not work - cause you just may not be ready.  Other things you can try are accupunture (didn't work for me, but then again, I wasn't ready), castrol oil (didn't work and i was in the bathroom 8 hours straight - literally).

What worked for me was time.  Time time time.

My second was very later (according to the rule book on Pregnancy).  However when she came out she looked to be right on time).  Go figure.

I know it's stressful.  I've been there.

HUGS.
