The moby wrap will be in heavy use the first weeks. The stretchiness and the easy wash ability are the number one reasons. A little poop? Leaky milk? Easy to wash and tumble dry. I also like the ease of popping a babe in and out without retying. After that newborn period I will retire it in favor of my woven wraps.
With my first two, pre wrap love, I used a pouch style sling the first weeks. I got the moby about a month after the birth of #2 and never looked back.

Love the Moby for the first few months! No retying, ease of washing, comfiness, etc. Once Baby gets heavier I switch to my woven wrap which I *love*. Now I have a mei tai too, but I've never used that for newborns before. Thoughts? Tips?
Someone asked about positions - I always wear my little babes upright, high and tight on my shoulder. This is because 1) it's comfortable for me, 2) they seem to like it better than cradle hold, and 3) I'm nervous about their airway being cut off in the cradle hold, and when their little faces are right next to my ear I'm always sure they're okay.
Btw, this is a GREAT back carry - maybe not for newborn, but love it for bigger babies and toddlers:
