Toilet Training Regression... AAAAKK!

My son will be 4 this spring, and he seems unable or uninterested in toilet training. He has been in underwear since the fall, and mastered peeing in the toilet/potty fairly quickly. However, he never pooped in the toilet except by accident. And now, he has stopped peeing in the toilet and does everything in his pants. I am at a loss and getting increasingly frustrated. We offer copious praise & a piece of chocolate on the (recently rare) times when he pees in the toilet. We do praise, a piece of chocolate, and stickers when he poops in the toilet. I read stories to him on the toilet when he wakes up, before nap/rest time, and before bed. We talk about the physical signs that mean he might need to poop or pee. When he has an accident, he is perfectly capable of taking of his wet/soiled clothes, wiping his bottom with wipes (a little help here if it's a big mess), and putting on clean clothes. I don't scold or shame him for his accidents, but I tell him I can't play with him while he is wet/poopy.

I'm very confused because he NEVER has an accident at preschool or in public or at a friend's house.  But at home, he continually wets/soils himself. Why won't he pee in the toilet like he used to? What will it take for him to poop in the toilet?

Please, any advice or suggestions would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!! I'm at my wits' end!!

Have you ruled out food sensitivities yet? Perhaps that's an underlying cause? Other than that, I have no idea. Hugs to you - that sounds super frustrating.

if it is just happening at home, has anything changed with your household or routine that may be upsetting his world?
