HELP with quiting praising

Hello everybody.

My son is 3 y and 2 month. I am trying to do some montessori activities at home with him but I find it so hard to eliminate praise from our everyday life (and other members of closer family don't even think about it). He gets frustrated quickly when an activity gives him trouble so I praise his efforts  (and success in the end) in order for him not to quit. Do you have any other suggestion for such an situation, that would replace praise? Is it a bit late for us -having in mind his age- to stop praising?

I WOULD APPRECIATE VERY MUCH ANY SUGGESTION!

P.S.

This has nothing to do with praise but to avoid starting a new thread I would ask here:

I ordered knobbed cylinders -1 block. I don't how he would react but I wait for about 1 month until the material is finished so I have to plan in advance what I will order next. I can't decide: another block of cylinders or pink tower. Any suggestion?

Thank you,

Sanja
