Hi: I was looking to see if there was a thread about this for this year, but I don't see one. If I've missed it, can someone tell me and I will participate in that one?

I am planning an Imbolc festival to coincide with Groundhog Day. Everyone seems pretty excited, but I am a relative newcomer to Pagan traditions, so don't know what to do! I did post a thread about this last year and had a small party, but want to do more this year.

I am planning to make it more of a midwinter festival, since I am not a witch or priestess. I know about Brigid and am looking at colours and themes traditional to her. I am asking people to bring poetry and traditional Imbolc foods (which seem to centre on bread and apples)? We will watch the movie Groundhog Day. I will make whatever traditional alcoholic/nonalcoholic drinks I can research. I have found some good one-page info sheets on the associations between Groundhog Day and Imbolc. We do have a fireplace, so I can bring that into use if I need to. I want to decorate the house and get it ready. Our friends are mostly very open and interested in Goddess/earth traditions, but certainly no-one I know is officially Pagan. I have a very simple blessing from one of Llewellyn's spell books, so I think at some point in the party I might just get people's attention and say that.

Anyone have any festival ideas? Food, games, decorations, etc? I LOVE this whole tradition and would like to make it annual, so am pretty heavily invested in making it a success. But I have only 2 more weeks!!!
