phonics workbooks

do they all include handwriting practice?

I'm confused b/c my DD (4) is reading 3 letter words (CVC) and is ready for the next step. We are reading BOB books, and I'm looking for some wkbks to reinforce the phonics rules, yet her handwriting is far below where I think she would start in the ETC books. She'd be in the primers for handwriting and the regular ETC for phonics I'm thinking. Also, I already have another handwriting program, so I am not really looking for that in a phonics program.

what do people do in this situation? just skip the handwriting parts? seems logical, I'm just not certain which ETC to begin with?

Our A Beka stuff has a lot of circle the answer, draw a line to match, fill in the answer bubble for which one it is. Later on in the K book there's been some writing to answer things like which word finishes the sentence. We do copy work in another book for manuscript handwriting and sentence formation practice and are about to get a cursive workbook. Seems typical as far as I know.

It's a common problem with kids who are 'early readers' I think.  With my daughter, we would usually skip the handwriting portions which are definitely intended for 6-7 year-olds.  Even if their brains are able to read at age 4, it doesn't mean their coordination is able to write at the same level.

If ABeka has mostly matching stuff like that, then she might enjoy that.  If you're not opposed to screen time, you might also consider readingeggs.com -- the lessons are fun and there's lots of reinforcement.
