10 month old biting instead of nursing???

Help!!! Has anyone else experienced this? My ten month old has decided that he'd rather nibble on his momma than nurse.  I don't know if it is due to the fact that he's a little sick right now or if he's trying to wean himself.  He won't take formula and I'm not really able to pump a lot...any ideas?

I'm surprised that I'm the first to reply because biting is a *very* common problem around that age!

Your baby is *definately* not weaning (10 month old babies don't self-wean).  Here is some advice from Kellymom:

You might also want to cross-post in one of the "Breastfeeding" forums to get additional advice/ commiseration/

Good luck & Welcome to MDC!

I totally agree - 10-month-olds do not "self-wean." The way I've always dealt with it when either of my kids bit was to take them off the breast and say calmly "no biting." I'll then try to nurse them later.
Sometimes it's impossible not to yelp in pain but try to stay calm or you can spark a nursing strike when baby is afraid to nurse or they find it hilarious and want to get you to do it again. eyesroll.gif
Good luck, mama. In most cases it will pass.
