Postpartum Hairloss « Back to Group Discussions

Great. So I know postpartum hairloss is normal, but I was anticipating it happening a month from now, instead of at 2 months postpartum. I am hoping it's not as bad this time around. I lost TONS of hair for almost 2 years after I had DD. Anyone else's hair falling out yet?

Nope, my hair hasn't started to fall out.  With both of my previous pregnancies it started around 4mo pp and went on for a couple of months.  It's totally normal, as you pretty much don't lose any hair while you're pregnant.  All those hairs that didn't fall out in the previous year, fall out very quickly over a few months.  It sucks and I don't look forward to it, especially since this time I have long hair.

Yep.. I just noticed hair in the shower this very day!  I thought to myself, here it goes b/c I lose hair pp for a looooong time as well.

I'm DREADING this go round. If this PP hair loss is as bad as it was last time, I WILL be bald. My hair is a little thicker than it was when my hair stopped falling out 6 months ago, but like I said, I lost ALOT of hair for 2 years.

After DD1 I thought for sure I was going to be completely bald.  I have VERY VERY thick hair.  Rediculously thick.  And it got to the point where you could see my scalp in the front like a balding man.  It has already started this time. When I went for my 6 week check my doc noticed and asked me if I wanted a thyroid panel run

Why cant my leg hair fall out instead so I don't have to worry about shaving my legs?  Haha.  Why cant my facial hair that grew from my progesterone supplements when I was pregnant fall out instead?

I think mine is starting too. I've notice slightly more hair in the shower the last couple of days. She'll be 3 months old next week, so it's pretty much right on schedule. I'm glad I have shorter hair this time.

My bathroom looked liked I murdered Cousin It last time. None yet but I'm sure it will start in about a month or so!

My shower drain has been clogged for about two weeks, now - despite me pulling hair out of it every time! Arg!

After I had DD, DH had to snake the drain twice in the same 6 months because I clogged it.

I'm actually looking forward to my hair loss. (I'm going to regret saying that, I'm sure.) My hair is too think right now. I never have time to straighten it, so it's just all big and poofy everyday. Looking forward to having a bit less craziness on my head.
