Is Weight Watchers worth it?

I am in the last few weeks of my third pregnancy-which I started at an all time high weight sadly-and I really want to try to put as many positive things in place as possible to encourage myself to get back on track after the baby is born.  I hear a lot of great things about ww online and from impersonal resources like their own ads and what have you, but does it really work?  Is it really a managable program to follow with a new baby?  How necessary is it to have an iphone or the like to use the aps for?  Why is it better than just trying to eat better?  Any thoughts?

Some people really like it. It's simple, easy to use & creates a little bit of accountability. You shouldn't need an app but it's been awhile since i've done it.

Downside: it doesn't really teach you the appropriate things to eat or balance. You could eat once a day & all poor choices but stay within the points & be ok. I found the leaders not very knowledgeable outside of the "program".

This is what I have wondered about.  When I was in high school I lost 30lbs in a few months by eating lots of dried fruit, special k bars, chex mix, some salads but few, instant oatmeal, etc.  It was effective but didn't last because it wasn't really healthy or sustainable.  Now that I have a family to feed and I have learned more I really want more than that.   I have heard that the points plus program is supposed to do a better job of promoting wise choices but I don't really know because you don't get full access to the program until you sign up and pay.

Actually they changed it recently. Now most fruits are also free so it's not a matter of "oh who wants to waste a point on an apple when I could eat a hershey's kiss"

I haven't been on it in a while. I found the meetings and tracking online very helpful when I did it. I'm not near a meeting now, and I know myself the weekly weigh in really kept me in line.

I would try it. They have a program for breastfeeding mothers and if you find a leader you like and click with, it's IMO very motivating.

I did it before iphones were around, so yes, it's possible to do WW without an iphone. When I was there they always gave out paper journals each week, I would assume they still do (they have huge range of people from young to seniors, I'm sure an iphone is not a requirement. :)
