That's awesome about telling your mom, Femmeknitzi!! I'm also glad that we have so many veterans in this DDC. I'm totally obsessing and I know I'm going to have tons of questions as things progress.
I told my immediate family almost right away, as soon as we had confirmation with a blood test from the clinic. It was my sister's moving day and we were all supposed to help, so I just came in and said, "We're here, but I can't lift anything." Because everyone knew we were in the TWW (the joys of inseminating at a clinic), they got it right away. We told DP's parents on speaker phone that same morning and my MIL and I both started to cry. It was pretty cool! Outside of immediate family, I've told a couple who are my best friends. They told me right away when they were pregnant with their little guy, and I just couldn't imagine keeping this from them. Everyone else will wait until at least 8 weeks, and maybe 12, depending on who they are.
That situation with birthday parties is a tough one! Especially the smokey club. Yuck! We've been smoke-free in bars and restaurants here in Ontario forever, so I can't imagine being in a smokey club pregnant or not!
I have a birthday dinner on Saturday night and I'm hoping I can keep people from figuring it out. A few of them know we were trying but I'm worried about one couple in particular -- the gay men in our group will be oblivious, but the lesbians with kids are more attuned!! I have a feeling my ex will be there too, so I really don't want to deal with awkwardly dodging questions because I'm not downing the red wine as usual. Good luck fending off the questions on your end!!!
What about symptoms? How is everyone feeling?
My bbs are very swollen and sore, and I've had some heartburn / reflux nastiness! I get pretty tired by mid-afternoon, and I've been giving myself permission to nap. (It could just be an excuse to snooze on these cold days!)
