Recommend collection of Bible stories, please

Yes, straight from the Bible has its advantages, but it won't work for DD due to the language differences. I'm having to rephrase every single sentence so she understands, and she will get bored instantly if she's not following it - and with all the rephrasing nobody is really following or enjoying the larger story.

So I'd like some modern-language Bible stories, a good-sized collection and not just a picture book of one story. I'd like some illustrations but mostly words.

Any suggestions?

Here is the one we use.  It is great.  It is paraphrased but includes word for word scripture ( with references when it does) as well.  the drawings ar int he style of icons which are nice and gentle and serious. Which I like.  It is easy to find the story you are looking for.

I am about to order The Story for Children, they also have The Story for Kids depending on your Dd's age.  My entire church is going through The Story this year so that's how I found it, but I skimmed through it at the bookstore and it looked really neat.

How about the Clear Word for Kids?

My mom has the Clear Word for adults & she loves it... even the family/friends she has that read from it. Just know that it is a paraphrase...not a bible.

I love Bible Stories by F Rivers. I have the bilingual parallel & it has stories about Abram, Hagar, Dinah, Deborah, Jehoiada, Hezekiah, Lazarus, Pilate,Sapphira, Saul... to name a few. It's about 200 pages.

There's also My Bible Friends... 5 volumes, maybe there are 10.

Then there is My Bible Story... 10 volume. My husband & I grew up with these... they have been around for a very long time. :)

The Jesus Storybook Bible is beautiful artistically and the phrasing appeals to both kids and adults. The phrasing is perfect for storytelling.  It is beautiful to look at and beautiful to read.
