Bumgenius Organics vs 4.0 and general diaper input

I am about to order some Bum Genius diapers ( I have used Fuzzi Bunz, Nu Bunz, Kawaii and prefolds w/ wool covers) but don't know if I should buy the Organics or 4.0. Most of my pocket diapers have delaminated after 1 1/2 years of use and I need some new ones since my husband will not use the prefolds. I was really interested by the new bumgenius organics, but was worried that since the inserts are attached, if they built up stink I wouldn't be able to strip them. I love pocket diapers for convenience and my husband will use them, but the cotton prefolds wash up better. i was hoping the bumgenius would be a good solution, but am worried about stink. What do you ladies think? I'm about to have another baby in March, and before I invest in a new system wanted to see what people liked best. Also, if anyone knows of a nice soft, absorbant, trim pre-fold, I would love to hear it. i bought a ton of pre-folds from Green Mountain and they are too hard to put on and very bulky - even on my 2 year old. I think his covers would work better and they would be easier to put on if they were trimmer. Sorry for all the questions! :)

I never had issues with stink. However they take for ever to dry. Also, I had to send them back 4 times because the cotton would start desolving around the seams. It is doing this again, now but I'm tired of sending them back. I heard from a local store that the cause may be the nylon thread used on cotton material... I am only using my home made now with wool covers (similar in style as BestBottoms) and no problems.

Thanks for your input! Good to know about the thread. I too love wool covers, but my mom and husband have a real hard time with the fat pre-folds I have from Green Mountain and they never get them on right. Also, we live in Hawaii and my 2 year old is almost only just wearing his diaper and when he sits in something wet or dirty or spills his lunch all over the wool covers, they are a lot more work to clean. I suppose I should stop being lazy and just put him in some pants! How did you make your own best bottom style inserts? Did you add snaps to your wool covers? What about when the baby poos with that sort of system - aren't you just having to clean the poo off the wool? Thanks!

I made the wool covers with the snaps to fit the BB inserts- as you said the laminate starts coming off after only 6 months. I buy the inserts. It's more affordable than going through the process of making those. My son is 18 months and he only runs around in diapers as well. I would need 5 outfits to have him look clean lol. He is SO messy! Poo spills (dont happen a lot since his poo is solid enough and he comes to to let me know he went potty. So no squishes lol) and messes from out side don't bother me. Just take a wool wash bar wash it out and let dry. It's a couple minutes and I do it along with spraying out the inserts. I have enough covers to last as well. I did make some fittet diapers which I LOVE LOVE LOVE. That way I can pick between cover or longies. That might be an easier idea? I decided to stay away from PUL. It would never last through multiple kids!

Sorry for the late reply - just wanted to say thanks. I wish I was good at sewing - then I think the fitted would be good for me too. They are just so expensive to buy! Unfortunately my 2 yr olds poo is not so solid, so it always squishes (i know TMI!) and with the new baby due soon, I know i will be dealing with breastfeeding poo again, so there are pluses to the PUL pockets. Just wish I could get rid of the stink build up problem. Good luck w/ your little guy and thanks! :)
