Thinking about Preparing freezer meals.... - Page 2

Rebirth- great blog!  Impressive list of meals.  Thanks for all the tips- I'd never have thought of doing the tinfoil pan trick so the pan can be reused.  Clever! I'll look into the veggie recipes.  I love the idea of making popsicles ahead of time.

Does anyone have recommendations for vegan crockpot meals and vegan meals that can be frozen?  I make the standards- chili, veggie soups.  But I need more variety.  Or any good vegan cookbook recipes for crockpot and freezing?  I've never successfully frozen meals before but this is going to be a necessity.  My daughter eats a dairy and gluten free diet and I eat a gluten free diet.  We can't do the meal tree with this baby because of food allergies.

Are any of you taking potential food allergies or sensitivities of our babies into consideration when planning these meals?  For moms that have had several children- have any of you had more than one child with food allergies or sensitivities?  My daughter was extremely allergic to gluten and eggs when she was a baby- violent reaction.  I know all babies are different but it's just dawning on me that this baby could also have those issues.

thecountrymouse -  I don't know that I've ever frozen any vegan meals - beyond soups and chili.  I do make and freeze brown rice and barley.  At least that would take some of the cooking time away.  I wonder if the fatfreevegan blog would have any suggestions.

And I haven't really considered food allergies at this point...I'd just deal with them as they came.  We haven't had any so far.

good vegan meals: black bean soup, potato leek soup, panang veggie curry (I can give you all three recipes) marinated stir fry mixes (tofu if you eat soy), double stuffed baked potatoes. tomato soup

From most of what I've learned about food allergies in EBF newborns they are not all that common... many are caused by introducing artificial stuff to the virgin gut (IE supplimenting with formula even once). which can cause lots of issues. Additionally I feel that like of probiotics/cultured foods and sufficient minerals plus lack of sufficient digestive enzymes creates issues. I suppliment my diet with all these.

If we did have any intollerency (say to wheat or to eggs or tomatoes) then I could feed those meals to my toddler and husband. I'm making sure that I have enough diversity that it would be ok.

I'm also interested in dairy and soy free freezer meals. My daughter had issues with dairy in my breastmilk when she was born and was fairly recently diagnosed with an allergy to cow's milk protein (she does fine with goat's milk). I'm going to be avoiding dairy and soy from 35 weeks on. We do eat meat.
