My almost 12 yr old has been asking of late about menstruation, over the last year or two, and I have been giving her info as she requests. She sees my cup/cloth pad supply, and knows what they are for. I don't visibly "suffer" like cramps or stuck in bed, so that is good LOL! She's got a good grasp of the physical stuff of it, but although I think she has a way to go until the time comes (she barely has breast buds).
I want something more "earthy"/spiritual to do--share with her about the whole thing. Sorta like some special cloth pads we pick, ceremony or symbolism (although we are not pagan or anything in practice), or a special gift. The gift is where I am stumped as she is not into jewlery, makeup, nailpolish etc...if anything she tends to be a tomboy. I am in particular looking for books...she has the American Girl published book about girls/growing up, but some of it is pretty clinical. I am looking for more of a book that talks about womenhood, or different cultural slants on the whole thing, or that emphasizes ceremony.
Does anyone have any ideas, or sites that sell "packages" as it were? I would greatly appreciate it!
